Born into a slave family, Koschei the Younger knew nothing but great toil and torment for most of his mortal life. Many days he would be starved, beaten, or abused in nearly every manner possible for a youth of such great lengths. He had nearly given up on any semblance of majesty in the world until one fateful night. On the night of three crescent moons, he would learn to read and write by spying on his master through the windows. From the secret learnings he partook in he began to praise the goddess of magic, Mava, most of all. He prayed to Mava to give him the knowledge and power to kill his masters and free his family from enslavement. His prayer to the triple-moon goddess was answered gently one night under the cover of three full moons, and Mava herself appeared before Koschei to empower his intelligence.
Koschei soon excelled at a rapid rate of magic that had been unseen until the moment of his revelation upon the world came to pass. Koschei had, at first, mastered blood magic without knowing how vampires wielded the arcane in their blood, but the boy had a natural affinity for the most forbidden and maddening of magic, necromancy. He utilized horrific plagues to kill his masters as they had died slowly over the course of three days. Each day they would cry out in agony for Koschei to free them or to kill them but the Master of Magic gave them neither mercy nor freedom. And when his masters had inevitably passed from their agony, Koschei turned their bodies into undead slaves for him to utilize until they were no longer useful to him.
Farmland after farmland would be freed from many slavers' grasp as Koschei would become known as the King of Undeath as he led a full-fledged slave revolt. He would make gruesome examples example out of all of his enemies by bringing entropy and destruction wherever he went. The city-state from which he was born had birthed from would become his capital in which he would fulfill his desires for enlightenment and power, Koschevoy. It was here in Koschevoy that Koschei would be crowned the Prophet and Champion of Mava as she would, in a dream, showcase to him the pinnacle of all of his desires.
There, in the lulls of sleep, Koschei would wander a forest written in the First Tongue and be blinded for days on end until he began to overcome his blindness and be able to read the texts within. He translated everything he read into a book, which had taken months of his time until he completed the tome. Afterward, he would conduct the Ritual of Immortality in the Forest of Ascension and conduct one of the greatest acts of defiance against the gods of death, becoming the First Lich. In this ascension, many heralds, and even gods, had attempted to kill Koschei to no avail as their souls had been consumed by his never-ending thirst for potency, becoming Koschei the Endless. In his great act of deviance, Koschei corrupted the lands of Koschevoy into a country where the sun rarely shined and all forms of magic were legal. Thus, opening the gates for even the fallen vampires to sink their fangs into the still-present human populace.
Koschei, at the advent of his new country, had made the pragmatic decision to ban all forms of slavery on any sapient life in order to prevent a creature such as himself from ever coming into existence again, thus becoming the Last Slave of Koschevoy. Any attempts at defying the great proclamation of Koschei are met with an extremely painful and drawn-out death for the public to display in absolute terror. Some of these executions are impalements, purposeful disease-striking, cannibalization by poisoned feral undead over the course of a week, and many more brutal and indescribable torments.
Koschei has, and always will, be a target of destruction from the Reich and from his own disgust at indentured servitude. However, thanks to his alliance with the Ali Empire it has become nearly impossible for the Reich to gain a good foothold in the country of cold logic and extreme wealth in recent years. Now, Koschei lies in wait for the day he can kill his goddess and consume the soul of Adrammelech and crown himself and his wife as the true gods of magic.
His ultimate goal would be succeeded during the Second Great Holy War as he and his wife, Marya, ascended to become the Masters of the Aether. They now sit within their territory that lies in the interstice of the Aether and Empyrea.
