Ashen Axe

Ashen Axe is the god of torture and the Duergar, as his people, he seeks perfection in everything he does and doesn't accept less than full attention to detail. His worshippers are mainly the Duergar that were convinced to follow the gods, he barely has any worshippers of other races or even other dwarves. His clerics become master artisans, who seek to perfect their craft, sometimes making long journeys to find inspiration. His religion is "accepted" in some dwarven fortresses.

History

The Ash Dwarves, known commonly as the Duergar or the Gray Dwarves, escaped to the Undertethys after the dwarven gods appeared on the surface. Here they hoped to be far from their influence. However, after the Second Age, Godswar, some lost access to their surface fortresses, leaving only the dark corridors. In that time, a fortress, Geshud-Samam, found themselves in need of help, surrounded by monsters and on the brink of extinction, the Titans did not answer them as there were no longer here. In those dark times, a warrior rose among their ranks, Bofun Bouldershoulder, made a desperate attack against their enemies. It was successful that not only he relieved the fortress from constant attacks, but he also found a passageway to an underground mushroom forest. This changed the fortress' future and he became the new king but it was just the start of his heroics. Over time, the dwarves gave him much more respect than any of their ancestors and he quickly became a Demigod. The Duergar had a small civil war over this occurrence but the loyalists won. The fortress spent centuries conquering other fortresses and became a nation, one of the biggest in the Undertethys in history. While most of the populace didn't worship the Ashen Axe, they served the GEshu-Samam. The demigod quickly became a True God and made an alliance with the Assassin. What the duergar wanted, they were given and the War of the Underworld began. They brought down many fortresses and regained the Ashen Mountains in Sailan. The war ended prematurely but this helped the Ashen Axe gain even more worshippers. He was quickly becoming the new Greater Deity but when the Fourth Age, The Calamity struck, he lost most of his powers as the Icons used the Divine Hollow to destroy his great nation. Ashen Axe had no choice but go to The Great Sky Forge for help but was refused. In the end, he decided to help the gods with Vecna and this action made Urist Thunder trust him more, he became a member of their pantheon. Ashen Axe still wars in the Undertethys for worship, as many fortresses fell from his divinity but he has a new nation on the surface - Osor-ibruk.

Dogma

  • Bring out the truth, use any means necessary
  • Seek perfection in your actions, do not accept laziness or carelessness
  • Do not let others lie about you, take their tongues if you must
  • Relationships with other Gods

He sees The Great Sky Forge as allies of convenience but might seek complete forgiveness for his people. He always critiques their actions, making him a nuisance to them. He has a bad relationship with Bright Axe and many of the Elder Pantheon see him a threat.
