Planes of existence

Overview

The planes of existence are the different dimensions and realms that make up the universe. Each plane has its own unique characteristics, inhabitants, and rules of reality. The planes are often categorized into several major types, including the Material Plane, the Feywild, the Shadowfell, the Elemental Planes, the Upper Planes, and the Lower Planes. Travel between planes can be achieved through portals. The Kang-Zao developed the Planar gate to facilitate mass transit between planes.

Material Plane

The Material Plane is the primary plane of existence where most mortal beings live. It is a diverse and dynamic realm, containing a balance of natural and magical elements. This plane is home to a variety of creatures and civilizations, including Humans , Elves , Dwarves , and many others.

-Feywild.

The Feywild, also known as the Plane of Faerie, is a parallel dimension to the Material Plane, characterized by its vibrant and otherworldly beauty. It is a realm of eternal twilight, where nature and magic are intertwined in a harmonious dance. The Feywild is inhabited by fey creatures such as elves, pixies, and dryads, and it is known for its whimsical and unpredictable nature.

-Shadowfell

The Shadowfell, in contrast to the Feywild, is a dark and desolate parallel dimension. It is a place of shadows and despair, where the undead and other creatures of darkness reside. The Shadowfell mirrors the Material Plane but is twisted and bleak, often reflecting the darker aspects of the mortal realm.

Elemental Planes

The Elemental Planes are four distinct realms that embody the pure elements: Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. Each plane is inhabited by elemental beings and is governed by the properties of its respective element. These planes are essential for the balance of the universe, providing the fundamental building blocks of creation.

- Elemental Plane of Air 

The Elemental Plane of Air is an expansive, boundless sky with no solid ground, where powerful winds constantly swirl and currents of air flow in every direction. This plane is a realm of eternal blue skies, endless cloudscapes, and floating islands of rock and crystal. 

- Elemental Plane of Earth

The Elemental Plane of Earth is a massive, solid expanse of rock, soil, and precious minerals. This plane is a realm of immense caverns, underground rivers, and tunnels that stretch endlessly in all directions. The landscape is dotted with enormous crystal formations, veins of precious metals, and vast underground lakes of molten lava. 

-Elemental plane of fire

The Elemental Plane of Fire is a realm of perpetual flame, scorching heat, and molten landscapes. This plane is dominated by fiery volcanoes, rivers of lava, and seas of burning oil. The air shimmers with intense heat, and the sky is often filled with smoke and ash. 

- Elemental Plane of Water 

The Elemental Plane of Water is an endless, bottomless ocean with no land in sight, where currents and tides constantly shift and flow. This plane is a realm of deep blue waters, coral reefs, and underwater mountains. 

-Celestial planes.

The Upper Planes, also known as the Celestial Planes, are realms of purity and goodness. They are inhabited by benevolent beings such as angels and other celestials. it is the home of the Sheen.

Lower Planes

The Lower Planes are realms of evil and chaos, home to fiends such as demons and devils. These planes are characterized by their malevolence and are often the source of conflict and strife in the universe.

Astral Plane

The Astral Plane is a vast, empty expanse that serves as a conduit between the other planes of existence. It is a place of pure thought and energy, where travelers can move between different realms. The Astral Plane is inhabited by strange and powerful entities, and it is often used by spellcasters and adventurers to traverse the multiverse.

Ethereal Plane

The Ethereal Plane is a ghostly realm that overlaps the Material Plane and other Inner Planes. It is a place of mist and shadow, where spirits and ethereal beings reside. The Ethereal Plane allows for movement between different parts of the Material Plane and serves as a boundary between the physical world and the more esoteric realms.
