Team Seven

Aquanauts, let's rumble! Shay

Team Seven is one of the surviving teams in The Gauntlet of Mercy. The team originated in Seventh Province, an underwater province to the west of the Empire. The team lost one of their initial members, Kohanu, in the first Gauntlet, after he was killed by his teammates. He was replaced with Mishi Fen, the last surviving member of Team Four. The team lost another member in the second Gauntlet, Diamond. She was replaced by a new recruit to the games, Taiko. Along with Team One and Team Ten, Team Seven are the only ones aware of the existence of Ash's interference with the games, as Noa was told by Rin and Bo in Team One. However, they have not been contacted by Ash directly. After Mishi's revelation of her real identity, she has taken control of the team and is using magic to prevent other teams from contacting them.

Race: Shadar-Kai Caste: Amber Conviction: Treason Main article: Noa

Shay

Race: Water genasi Caste: Amber Conviction: Desertion Shay is a former soldier. She is extremely loud and extroverted, and she seems to enjoy constantly bothering the team's handler, Marina. She shows little deference for the Empire or for Celestial customs, and she thinks the entire Gauntlet is something of a farce. She also appears to be constantly drunk. Despite her superficial harmlessness, Shay seems willing and ready to see combat, and she also was likely complicit in Kohanu's death. She has an aggressive dislike of Noa, who she often calls 'bitch baby'. She seems confused and nervous about the interference of Ash in the games, but she has enough of a self-preservation instinct to merely keep herself as distant from the situation as possible.

Taiko

Race: Human Caste: Steel Conviction: Murder As of Round Three Taiko is the Gauntlet's newest participant. They are a poet, outgoing but with a tendency to seem shady even when telling the truth, which they say has been a permanent cause of strife for them over the course of their life. They have a chequered past but have revealed that they once trained to be a scholar, and their dissertation was on memory-altering magic, which helped them discover the key implanted in Mishi's neck. They also insist that the murder they committed was justified, although they don't want to explain how. They don't seem particularly principled, but they clearly hold a lot of resentment for the Empire, and they don't seem to have an interest in interfering with the actions of their teammates.

Diamond

Race: Locathah Caste: Stone Conviction: Attempted escape Circumstances of Death: Shot during roulette game in Round Two. Diamond was an albino koi locathah. She seemed to have a sweet, if somewhat nervous personality, and she was the only team member against killing previous teammate Kohanu, although it seems she was overruled. She had an amicable relationship with her other teammates, particularly Shay, who she was friends with. In the second Gauntlet she took a bullet Noa believed was for himself by paralysing the other team members with magic, allowing her to be the one who shot the gun during the roulette game.
