Grand Elder

The rank of Grand Elder is a ceremonial role given to individuals that are no longer directly serving Ione or the Order of the Fortunism. It is only granted to those that have held the rank of Eparch or Exarch. Ranks below Eparch but at least Acolyte are instead granted the rank of Elder when stepping down. While not holding any official power or responsbilities, they still garner respect from average citizens, especially from those that experienced positive outcomes under their rule.

Qualifications

All holders of Ionean government positions or roles within the Order of Fortunism are required to pass the Trials of the Fortunate before assuming any official positions which is a prerequisite to obtaining the ceremonial rank of Grand Elder.

Requirements

The rank of Grand Elder is given to anyone that has held a rank of either Eparch or Exarch within the order of Fortunism but has stepped down from their position. As the rank of Alarch cannot be revoked an Alarch cannot have the title of Grand Elder.

Responsibilities

As the title of Grand Elder is purely ceremonial there are no official responsibilities, though one may be called on by a sitting official for their experience or expertise.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

The rank of Grand Elder cannot be removed from an individual.

Cultural Significance

Grand Elders garner significant respect throughout Ione, as they have usually served the nation of the Order of Fortunism for a significant number of years. Outside of Ione Grand Elders do not carry any diplomatic weight but are sometimes recognized in other nations.
