The Four Titans

No one is sure how the new world began, or how the old one ended. Some even question if there was an old world, believing the Dead-Lands below to be a living hell from which all evil blossoms. What is known is that however the Fractured Skies came to be, it was because of four mysterious elemental Titans. These titans lifted the floating islands into the sky by imbuing them with elemental magic, focused into the Source Crystals which can be found on every island. After their work was done, the titans vanished from the Fractured Skies and have not been seen since. Every nation, culture, island, and person has a different interpretation of this event. Some believe the Titans to be benevolent gods, while others posit that they are inscrutable forces of nature. On some islands they are venerated, others feared, and on some life goes on without them being thought about outside of academic interests.
Here are the most common names for the Titans across the Fractured Skies:

• The Water Titan: Orzol. Nero. 
• The Fire Titan: Pyvaris.
• The Earth Titan: Yreay.
• The Air Titan: Nythis.

Some heretics claim the existence of a fifth Titan, a being of pure Nul who resides in the Dead-Lands below. But this is only seriously believed by a few deviant religious sects and a few mad academics spread across the Skies. See The Nul Titan for more information.
