City-Wide Manhunt: RPG Session 6

General Summary

"With a clang, the sewer grate falls to the side and the now-open entrance to the sewers is gestured to. 'After you!' the guard says."   "How does it smell?"   "Even from up here, you can tell that it smells absolutely wonderful down there!"   ~Classic DM sarcasm

  • What Happened

Following being badly beaten at his card game, Daz went back up to the group's room at the Broken Tankard. Up until his arrival, the three other members of the band had shorn their armour and equipment, and both Gúrda and Melé had gotten ready for bed. Melé had just finished her nightly prayer, which Geort listened to and understood it to not be the usual kind of prayer for her religion, as Daz returned. Daz told the group of the deal between their party and the Stalwart Shield.   Wanting to meet this Art Dagesti for himself, Geort went downstairs with him, where they were able to convince Art to split the money 67/33, as they would be the ones doing the brunt of the work. After a couple games of cards where Daz won back all of his money, Art laid out the details: the recent disappearances of sewer workers was tied to a specific section of the sewer system, and Art gave them the official letter of permission that would be needed to get past the guards over the sewer entrance. Following this, the two of them joined the others and went to bed.   In the night, Geort had a strange dream where he was fleeing a burning city when a golden dragon landed in front of him. Believing it to be the draconic corruption of the god Etheric, he approached, and discovered that the two forms of the god were not opposites but one and the same god. After a dizzying conversation where the dragon would only respond in single words and strange golden lights danced in his eyes, Geort awoke, startling Melé in the bed next to him. The rest of the night passed without issue.   The following day, the group decided to head into the sewers, and they stopped by the armoury of Étan Balkar in the Teris District of the city. There, Geort made the purchase of a new set of armour and got rid of the armour that had been given to him by the now-deceased members of The Dragon Heresy, marking a new chapter for his character. After heading south through Temple District, accosting Déran the Town Crier reporting on the events of the past week, and apprehending a pickpocket at the edge of Southwark District, the group got the grate opened and they entered the sewer.   After a short few minutes, they came upon a fork in the dank sewer tunnels and they went down the new tunnel. Finding a locked door, they broke it down only to find that it was a supply room for the sewer cleaners. Continuing down the tunnel, they arrived at a room, where they were accosted by gigantic diseased rats. In the ensuing conflict, both Melé and Geort were covered in dung and the tow of them and Gúrda became sickened with some kind of fever. Finding no bodies or sign of the missing sewer cleaners, the four of them got up and prepared to continue deeper into the sewers...
