Plainér Town Guardhouse
This building, just off of the main plaza, is a low and expansive complex, with tall stone walls and iron bars on the few windows. These windows ring the outside wall, and each shows a small cell for storing prisoners. There are a pair of guards out front, and they keep an eye out for any suspicious activity in the street.
Inside, there is a large hallway that makes a circle. On the left side of this hallway - in other words, facing towards the street - there are cells, some rather small, others massive and containing multiple beds. Each of these cells is separated from the hallway by a set of iron bars with maybe 4" of spaces between them.
On the right are the quarters and offices of the Imperial army. The quarters are small and badly lit, with only a candle or two for light and a few beds in each. The offices of the local Captain are a bit better furnished, and a scribe can be found there writing messages or organizing files. There is also a small room for the rare court case, with some tables, chairs, and a pair of law books.
Purpose / Function
This building is the combined headquarters and rest area for the two dozen or so guards in the town. Arrested individuals are brought here to be processed and held until they are bailed out. If anyone has any crimes or problems with the guards to report, they will come here and speak to a guard. When they are not on duty, the guards will likely be resting or gambling here.
History
This iteration of the guardhouse was built a few decades ago to handle the increasing drunkenness that plagued the Plainér Miner's Village, hence the large number of cells. Of course, that particular issue has mostly passed, leaving large amounts of the cells empty or in need of repair.
