Kuu

Kuu is a small island in the Eyjaskeggjaheim island group, connected via a causeway to the larger island of Eysýsla. While the original causeway formed naturally, it would flood at high tide until it was augmented by the islanders. Kuu has the best harbor between the two islands and the largest town, Saareke. Some people call Kuu "Eysýsla's dooryard", and it is true that most of the traffic going to and from the larger island passes through Kuu.

Notable Spirits

Like the inhabitants of Eysýsla, the people of Kuu honor Jutta, the Queen of Birds. However, another goddess shares equal respect on the smaller island: Mána, goddess of the moon. They say that Mána is the sister of Jutta, whose egg hatched on the moon rather than among The Islands. They believe that Mána and Jutta visit each other on Kuu, and that Mána holds special affection for the small island.

Geography

Kuu means 'moon' in the language of the Saarelainen people, and the island is named for its crescent shape which reminds people of the moon. The Serueueræ Lighthouse is built at the northern point of the crescent, and it marks the entrance into the harbor at Saareke. The god of the lighthouse is said to be a steward of Mána, who keeps the island for her while she travels across the sky.
