General Summary
Destroy the Undead Mage near Horde Hill
[Written report of Walter Lefkaris as dictated to Gatefall Company employee Bernard Krieser for 1 Stuiver.] We went to the mausoleum. Ma'ago went ahead into the room where the others said the Will o' Wisps were. He opened the door and undead attacked. I unleashed my powers of thunder but the swarm was too much and I was knocked unconscious. The others killed the remaining undead. We found the Undead Mage in a ritual chamber. He was doing an unknown ritual with a fresh corpse while protected by a magic barrier. He spoke to us in Latian. He said we have come as moths to the flame and that we are too late. He said it's already in motion. His greatest work. His work for "him." He said he was once as we are (mortal?) until he saw his light in death. The light of Zarus, maker of men. This is his judgement. Zarus smites the land in his wrath, and the mage is his blade. Gunther was caught sneaking to the back of the room and attacked. Interrupting the Wight wizard before I could ask why Zarus was doing this. Idiot. The wight says he was unfaithful to Zarus and was being punished, but Zarus gave him a chance at redemption. What was his failing and what did Zarus want done? The wight mage summoned a giant gladiator-looking undead monster. With great difficulty, we wore it down and killed it. The mage then continued his ritual as we battled his undead followers and more shadows began to rise out of the coffins. We fought to break through the barricade and finally did so. Petra badly injured the mage with her rifle. He vanished and more undead arrived. Ma'ago fell. We were being swarmed. I was on the verge of being overwhelmed, but Petra... brave Petra... found the undead mage and shot him dead. The undead lost their focus and became mindless. We killed the remaining undead, looted the mausoleum, and then returned home.
