Short Rest
A Short Rest is a brief period during which a character may catch their breath and recuperate while Adventuring. A player may choose to have their character attempt a Short Rest anytime they are not actively engaged in Combat, but they must rest without interruption for at least one hour in order to gain any benefit. Unlike a Medium Rest or Long Rest, a Short Rest may be taken at any location in The Wilds.
Certain Race and Class features, such as Dragonborn breath weapons and Warlock spell slots, are restored following a successful Short Rest. Additionally, when a character takes a Short Rest, they may attempt to treat any open Wounds and spend Hit Dice to restore lost Hit Points. A character can only regain Hit Points on a Short Rest if they have no open Wounds, although they may close their Wounds then restore Hit Points on the same Short Rest.
