Class

A character's Class describes, in broad terms, the path they have chosen in life, encompassing their profession, training, and experience. The term is generally used to describe player characters, as NPCs are designed using a completely different system, though some possess abilities similar to those of one or more Classes. Each Class is divided into multiple Archetypes, representing specializations within that Class. The player characters' choice of Archetypes is limited by what training is reasonably available to them. Archetypes which may be learned in The Old World are always available but, as players explore The New World, they may discover and unlock new Archetypes as well.

A player character may belong to one of thirteen possible Classes: Artificer, Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Warlock, or Wizard. Choosing a character's Class is one of the first steps in Character Creation and, along with their Race, plays a large part in determining that character's place in the world and their role in an Adventuring Party. Each Class and Archetype provides different bonuses and abilities, which may be used in or out of Combat.
