Royal Plate of Youk

History

After the death of Ragnor Sorrowsworn, he was entombed in his home town of Magrae, along with his sword, Soulslicer. His armor, an ornate set of black plate, he left to his daughter, who passed it to her son, Sorrow Gilren. When he was crowned King of Youk Kingdom, he had a golden crown set into the helm. Over the following centuries, various Kings and Queens wore the armor into battle and added their own embellishments; some even having magical augmentations put on the armor.
During the reign of the false Hidrecs, Lahran Gilren had the plate enchanted with an aura of fear suppression by an Arcanist loyal to his family.
In the early years of Lahrah Gilren's reign, while she was still at war with her brother, Lamlou Gilren, she had her royal Arcanists place an enchantment upon the plate that increases the strength of the wearer. It is supposed that she did this to silence critics amongst the nobles of the Kingdom.
Jordyn II Gilren had the protective enhancements placed by Larryn Gilren doubled during his wars in the Riverland.
In Third Youkan Civil War, the armor was worn by Rielyn Gilren as he fought a civil-war against his older sister, Jordyn III. Ultimately the armor failed him when his sister struck him down with a poisoned arrow shot into one of the joints of the plate. After she recovered the armor, Jordyn had it repaired and its protective enchantments reenforced.

Significance

The Royal Plate of Youk is a relic of Ragnor Sorrowsworn and is a symbol of Gilren power in Youk Kingdom and all of Westrin society.
