Einherjar
The Einherjar are Asgard's only permanent military unit. Their primary role is to guard Valaskjalf and the Asgardian Royal Family, although units of Einherjar also patrol Asgardia.
The uniform of the Einherjar consists of plate mail in the Aesir fashion (helm, breastplate, pauldrons, gauntlets, and sabatons, with no tasset, cuisse, or vambrace worn), with crested healms bearing the distinctive 'boar's tusks', two curved metal ornaments which form a semi-circle over the wearer's forehead. The boar's tusk decoration was added to the uniform during the reign of Bor, mirroring his personal badge. The tunics and cloaks of the uniform are grey.
All Einherjar carry a long spear and circular shield, both gilded and the shield heavily ornamented, with a short-sword as their secondary weapon.
They are lead by a captain, who answers directly to the All-Mother. By tradition, only pure-blooded Aesir may join the Einherjar, as it is believed they are more likely to be loyal to the Royal Family, although there have been a handful of Vanir and one Light Elf recruit in the past.
The Einherjar baracks and training grounds are located in Asgardia, close to Valaskjalf, although they also hold drills in the courtyards of the palace itself, where they can be overseen by the All-Mother or her chosen officers.
