New York Sanctum
The New York Sanctum is one of the three Sanctum Sanctorums, the bases of the Masters of the Mystic Arts outside Kamar-Taj, alongside the London Sactum and the Hong Kong Sanctum.
It is located at 177A Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village, New York.
During the invasion of Earth by the Empirikul, the Sanctum was attacked by the Empirikul, and much of the library was destroyed and the books burned. Largescale repairs have been undertaken, although it has not been possible to replace many of the lost books.
Like all Sanctums, it serves as a repository for powerful and dangerous magical artefacts, like the Cloak of Levitation, the Dark Sceptre, the Cauldron of the Cosmos, the Brazier of Bom'Galiath, and the Black Mirror.
Since Strange's appointment as Sorceror Supreme, the New York Sanctum's importance has far eclipsed the London and Hong Kong Sactums (although the theft of the Muramasa blade from the Hong Kong Sanctum and Anthony Druid's eccentricity both also contributed to this shift in focus).
History
The date of founding is not known, however the locations of the three Sanctums - London, New York and Hong Kong - suggest they are likely colonial-era creations.
