The Nine Realms
The Nine Realms are a group of nine planets connected by the network of Einstein-Rosen bridges (also known as Schwarzschild wormholes) that the Aesir call Yggdrasill.
Each of the Realms exists in a different star-system, and some do not even share a galaxy with the other Realms. The Realms are characterised by their high levels of background magic. All races native to the Nine Realms have some level of natural magical ability, and many can utilise the magical language known as All-speak.
Due to Yggdrasil enabling travel between the Realms, the Realms share elements of culture and religion, and have a shared history.
Since the Conquest of the Nine Realms, Asgard, Vanaheim, Alfheim, Nidavellir, and Jotunheim are part of the intergalactic Asgardian Empire. Muspelheim was subjugated by the Aesir, but not made a full part of the Empire. Most Aesir also count Midgard as part of the Empire, although this is disputed by the inhabitants.
