Ice-Glass

This article is a Work In Progress. Please have patience while we caulk up all the leaks and re-sew the mainsails, and we'll soon be back to our regularly scheduled sailing!
A transparent, crystal-like natural material that has been found in various shades and colours. It has been said to look similar to blue amber, or glass, and can be melted, reshaped and molded using currents of magical energy. When left to set, the structure becomes indestructable by non-magical means.   Despite its name, the material has a chemical makeup similar to neither 'ice' nor 'glass.' Analysis of the chemical composition of the similar looking Blue Lassantine suggests that Ice-Glass and the Lassantine rock has the same origin, with Lassantine being posited as a natural mineral composite of Ice-Glass, and other minerals, most commonly quartz or native element minerals and alloys such as gold, palladium or aluminium.

Origin, creation and discovery

When Illustrial scientists first started studying the building materials used in the foundations of ancient buildings such as those unearthed at the Tomb of Sandios Pethunas in Gylarus, and the Red Cazaar in Laros, they were excited to learn that the chemical composition of the material had a similar makeup to Blue Lassantine, a type of mineral used in Illustrial Technology, due to its ability to conduct and retain magical energy. Early Illustrial accounts speak of the 'melting' through conducting channels of magical energy through it, and 'setting' into various shapes, however the method by which to do so has been lost.

Breakwater Walls

The huge, ancient walls that span the continents of the Toreworld are thought to be made of Ice-Glass, though there is much debate over how these giant construction projects were achieved.
