Minauros

Minauros the third layer of the Nine Hells, is a desolate swamp constantly bombarded by winds, acid rain, and hail. Cyclopean cities of carved stone rise from the swamp, their structures towering over the polluted landscape.

Notable Locations

• Minauros, the largest city in the third layer of Hell, is the seat of power for Mammon, the Lord of the Third. Constantly sinking into the swamp, the city requires constant repairs. Expeditions of petitioners and slaves are sent to gather volcanic rock to shore up the city and replace its crumbling streets.
  Legend has it that beneath Minauros lie the ruins of an ancient city, pulled from the Outlands. This suggests that Minauros may have a more complex history than is currently known.
• Aeaea is the secondary realm of Hecate, the deity of magic and the moon.
• Jangling Hiter, a city suspended by chains from the bottom of Dis, the second layer.

Inhabitants

The primary inhabitants of Minauros are bearded devils, chain devils, imps, and spined devils. Barbed devils are also common, tasked with tracking and hunting down petitioners who attempt to escape. Lemures and nupperibos make up the rest of the population.
Minauros is ruled by Mammon, whose court includes several notable dukes: Bael, Caarcrinolaas, Melchon, Focalor (Mammon's seneschal), and Glwa (Mammon's consort).

Geography

Minauros is a vast, stinking bog constantly battered by rain, sleet, and hail. The weather leaves an oily residue on the ground. Volcanic ridges of rock and obsidian rise from the swamp. A luminescent mist provides some illumination, but the temperatures vary greatly. Some areas are freezing cold, while others are scorching hot, with mud geysers erupting from the ground.
