Xalarnel
A planet in the Aldis System.
Xalarnel is the homeworld of the Xalarin, and the capital of the Xalarin Council. It is very hot.
The Xalarin homeworld is the 4th planet from the star, with a surprisingly short orbital radius for a habitable world. It is a very hot world, but still habitable by Xalarins only due to its high surface temperatures.
Due to geological activity, the atmosphere is also often covered with thick smog. The xalarin respiratory system evolved to deal with this, of course, though the atmosphere is not always hard to see through. Sometimes, it can be exceptionally clear and provide excellent views from mountains of the surrounding landscape. Despite the plants there, there are also often a number of lava lakes.
Xalarnel has a moderately powerful magnetic field as well. This protects the planet from most of the beta radiation, while also keeping the planets atmosphere in the planet.
The planet is mostly covered in land. Lava oceans make up about 23% of the worlds surface, but are heavily influenced from tides from the sun because it is large and closer. This has resulted in a large number of deaths through history, but these deaths have become rare as Xalarin science has improved and they began to predict where the sun would be after certain points in time, and then predict tidal influences.
The world also has a space elevator, which was built after the Xalarin first obtained FTL travel.
