Umvak (Oom-Vak)

Introduction:

Another central region closer to the eastern coast of the Orc Domain. Umvak is one of the most resource rich regions in the Orc Domain as it benefits from the Shimmering Gulf to the north, the ample forests throughout the region, the Green River as a means of quick transportation, and rich ore deposits in the nearby Golden Slopes.

Demopgraphics:

The overwhelming majority of people living in Umvak are Orcs or Half-Orcs. The are several minority communities of Elves, Carthan Humans, Halflings, and Gold Dwarves that remained in the Orc Domain when the rest of their people migrated to Kumuldor.

Natural Features:

• Golden Slopes: Offshoot mountains from Celestial Mountain, the Golden Slopes are mineral rich mountains predominatly in the Umvak region of the Orc Domain. The excavation of these mountains has made the Orc Nobles of Umvak wealthy.
• Green River: Green River divides the Murag and Umvak regions of the Orc Domain. It is an important waterway for the people of both regions. In the past the Green River has been utilized for raids by Elves from Onarion.
• Gold Canal: The Gold Canal flows from the Golden Slopes to the ocean. The river divides the Umvak and Zufin regions with the land between the river's fork often contested. The river gets its name from the gold that could be panned from it. That gold has since been claimed but the name remains.

Settlements:

• Azreran: Azreran is the capital city of the Umvak region. The city rests on the northeast side of the Golden Slopes. It is a resource-rich city and most of its populace is considered wealthy. Azreran is also well defended as it has had to fend off attacks from Zufin and Murag in previous wars.
• Khar Pass: Khar Pass is a border town in north Umvak. The town is a popular trading outpost. The Orcs of the Bhol and Murag regions have accused the people of Khar Pass and Umvak of selling out the Orc Domain by allowing Elves from Onarion to pass into the Orc Domain through Khar Pass freely.
• Olakunle: Olakunle is a Gold Dwarf stronghold and mining community in the Umvak region. When the region was founded by House Patron they made a deal with several Gold Dwarf clans led by Clan Shimmerdeep. As part of the deal the CDwarves were granted mining rights in the Golden Slopes in perpetuity. With the wealth from the mines and the partnership with House Patron, Olakunle has grown into a prosperous stronghold.
