Harpon Marin
Harpon Marin (a.k.a. Cootoe)
Harpon Marin is the owner and proprietor of the Kraken's Heart Inn in the City of Aramor. He thinks he is 60 years old, but can't be sure, since he has been at sea since he was old enough to walk and never knew his parents. In 194 AF at the age of (around) 20 years, he signed on to crew a ship that hunted Giant Kraken, one of the most dangerous and deadly predators of the seas. The work was dangerous, incredibly hard but very lucrative (if one could stay alive).
Ten years ago, he was injured and lost his lower left leg. He also received injuries to his back and chest that have left him incredibly scarred. Because of this, the ship's owner, Thad Duclos, pensioned the old sailor off with a chest of 15,000 urcs which he used to buy the building where he started his new business, the Kraken's Heart Inn, so named because of the pun involved: all sailors know that Kraken do not have hearts.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Except for his missing lower leg, Harpon is incredibly fit. He is still very strong with a deep muscular chest and bulging arms. He has a thick, curly gray beard and his skin is permanently tanned by sun and sea after nearly 50 years on the decks.
Identifying Characteristics
Missing his lower left leg just below the knee, and has most of his back and chest covered in terrible scars from his encounter with a Giant Kraken.
Apparel & Accessories
Known to always wear a hat made from the tanned hide of a Kraken. This hat, soft, supple and completely waterproof, is tough enough to protect the wearer from any number of injuries ranging from a blow from a club to fire.

Personal history
Harpon has no memory of his family and his earliest recollections are of life aboard ship. He recalls acting as a cabin boy for his Uncle, but his uncle died when he was very young and he simply began working for someone else on the ship. He doesn't even know his uncle's name. Since his childhood, Harpon was recognized as a very intelligent boy and his sharp wit gave him the moniker Harpon, which in Arian means harpoon. He adopted the surname Marin himself when he first had to offer his name to a ship's purser while signing on as a hand. Marin means sailor.
With a lifetime of sailing experience, Harpon became a member of the crew of a ship belonging to Richon Duclos in 194 AF. The ship was a vessel that hunted Giant Kraken and it promised great rewards for very dangerous work. Harpon worked the decks of the Duclos ships for the next 29 years, suffering many injuries and watching as more than a dozen of his shipmates were killed while hunting the great beasts. Then, ten years ago, he was injured to a point where he could sail no longer, and the owner of the ship, Richon's grandson Thad Duclos, pensioned the old sailor off with a handsome purse of 15,000 urcs in gold and silver.
Harpon used the money to buy a building in the nearest port he could find himself in (the City of Aramor) and thus was born the Kraken's Heart Inn.
