Bastion of the Lord of Bats

The Bastion of the Lord of Bats was the changed name of watchtower and fortress that sat atop a mountain to the northwest of Gwyllan's Watch. This mountain was originally known as Targoldar. Targoldar translates to Tower of the Watch in the tongue of the Eladrin, and it was home to a large castle that stood watch over the mountain passes. In about 575 SKR, the mountain's summit grew colder and more ice-covered, and the castle was abandoned as ice covered it. A group of Adventurers sought it out, seeking to reclaim treasures that were stored there, including the flying cloak Valathorendal. Only one returned, grievously wounded and mostly mad. Before he passed, he managed to choke out, "The Lord of Bats has made it his bastion."
After this, the mountain became known as Aigoldar, the Tower of Ice, and the castle became known as the Bastion of the Lord of Bats. In 1081 SKR, the Fire Wasps, seeking Valathorendal, ascended the slopes and did battle with the Lord of Bats, revealed to be the fiendish Duke Geryon. They defeated him, forcing him back to Hell. Since his defeat and removal, the castle has begun to thaw, and the castle may soon be reclaimed once more by Tavanion. One of Prince Belerion ap Kadishai's last acts before his death was to send a message to the royal mapmakers to change the mountain's name in the official records of the land.
