Lord Raydon Besk is a giant of a man, standing at a towering six foot two inches and weighing in at a formidable three-hundred and thiry-five pounds. His rotund frame gives the impression of softness, but it is belied by the thick cords of muscle that ripple under his lightly tanned skin, hinting at a powerful strength. His head is a shiny, smooth dome, but his hardened face is adorned with a thick, black beard that covers his heavy, squared jawline and cheeks. His eyes are a hazel color, deep-set and shrewd. He carries himself with an air of authority and confidence, exuding an impatience for anything less than poiniont. He is not a man to be trifled with and people tend to keep their distance from him as he has a warrior's mettle coupled with temprement of a raging bull.
Besk fought in many small campaigns around the central regions of the Salvae Empire, primarily around the remnants of the Broken Spine of Salazar in the Shadowlands and the Heartlands, earning himself the name "The Thundering Hammer of the Spine" in the process. After his time serving in the Grand Army for just over two decades, his extended service would eventually allow him to return to his home in the south and earned him a considerable swath of land and eventually the title of the Second Baron of Landow due to some private negotiations with House Cahlan. Like his contemporary baron, Lord Cahlan, he too remembers the stories of a united South from his formative years from his mentor, the Hill Dwarf Cadlym Bolluln, that brought him much pride and joy. However, his trials through combat and service have left a very bitter taste to him that has slowly leeched out as he has aged.

Raydon Besk, like many humans, is incrediably distrustful of certain non-human races, in particular elves and half-elves. His distrust of elves seems to stem from two sources: his mentor, Cadlym Bolluln, and his time with the Grand Army where the intermingling of races was far more than what he was ever used to or saw in his daily life growing up. These differences of culture often clashed, sometimes violently; though Besk never was fearful of a fight... not with a prissy, hoity elf anyway.
