Session 9: Claim to Flame Report

General Summary

When we last left our "heroes"...

Following the recovery of mysterious red gemstones from the mine, the group took time spending their hard-earned gold. Petrus the Green, thrilled with their success, asked the group to prepare Ofrary for a festival to celebrate the clearing of the mine and the offering to Olris.

The party was given an aged estate in exchange for their services. It's a fixer upper but it has potential!

Meanwhile, upset by the groups' decision to give up the gems, Laela took advantage of the festival's distraction to do some solo snooping for possible dirt on Petrus. During her excursion, she found the office of the Governor with potentially dubious evidence. Now, she just needs to escape!

The festival was largely successful save for one small hiccup; Ydbris played a nasty trick to humble her brother by having Shilver add a spicy powder to the fire walk ceremony.

The night ended tensely after a sacrificial ceremony was instigated by Petrus. He sought to appease Olris the scorned and atone for Ydbris' attempt to embarrass him.

The Hounds (Ursus + Draqull)

After sleeping (short rest or long rest), your hounds wake up glowing. Their fire has tinged a different, brighter color. Their bodies and paws are larger, their teeth longer, and their muscled thicker under their fiery coat. Their eyes glimmer in anticipation and enthusiasm, waiting for your approval.

You not only brought the bounty of red gems to Petra, but you participated in Olris' sacrificial ceremony.

• Fire Breath (Recharge 5–6). The hound exhales fire in a 10-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 10 Dexterity saving throw, taking 10 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Cutter (Shilver)

After sleeping (short rest or long rest), your reptilian-cat friend appears to be larger. The plates along her spine are broader and have a brighter, more vibrant color pattern. The green hues on the faces of each plate branch out like veins on leaves tinted with autumn orange. Her paws are larger and canine teeth are poking through both top and bottom lips. It seems her muscles are thicker under her sleek coat. Golden eyes are speckled and bright, curiously waiting and watching for your directions.

You pleased Ydbris with your cunning spirit by placing the spices in the fire.
