Loch Tanker
Sitting between Beith and Kilbirny, Loch Tanker is about one and a half miles long and a third of a mile across. In times of heavy rain, it floods the low lying areas around the nearby Ralstoun Grange forest and joins up with Loch Enough to form a single large body of water until the flood plain is able to drain. The loch is an important location as the north end of the lake, towards Kilbirny, is a favorite fishing spot of Crown Prince Alred when he visits the area. He has had a manor house built on the far side of the River Garnock from the loch which sits empty (but for a small staff) most of the time in readiness for any possible visit from royalty. Prince Alred never frequents any of the villages while in the area, but nonetheless a royal visit is an occasion for excitement and upheaval.
