Erran

The Isle of Erran, located off the coast of Mithlerien, is also simply known as Erran. It is one of the largest islands in the Kerrowater Estuary, at 170 square miles, and the seventh largest in western Mithlerien. By tradition, it is a part of the Duchy of Bute. It is separated from the Kapusmack Islands by the Kentear Peninsula, yet the two places are culturally and geographically indistinguishable. The island is divided between highland and lowland regions, and has been dubbed "Mithlerien in Miniature" due to the island's immense geological diversity, which mirrors that of the mainland.
On the island, there are kilometers of shoreline, several hills and mountains, forested areas, rivers, small glacial lakes, and beaches.
Serene Island, Refuge, and Haunted Isle are also part of Erran. A skerry off Erran's south-west beach is connected to Erran at low tide.
Erran is primarily populated by monks, some of whom are warriors and others who just desire solitude. As long as they continue to pay a little tax to the nominally controlling Duke of Bute, the monks are free to run their monasteries however they like.
