Qirandri Kiahilani (a.k.a. Qira)
Born on the Kiahilani island as part of the Dulinri culture, Qira was often a free spirit until she broke her leg in her early youth, which never healed correctly and forced her to walk with a cane for the rest of her life.
Beyond just these, she typically has her bags with her. A set of two satchels, one tied above the other and under which she attaches her journal so that it is safely carried. She also carries a carved cane to support herself on due to her leg injury.
Contrasting all of this, she has trouble seeing the point of larger cities compared to smaller tribes and often find them too busy. Though she can appreciate those with natural beauty, such as parks and wild areas, she finds that those without it are depressing to her and the ideas of city-walls to be restraining.
As the time came for her to pick an apprenticeship, she took to learning from her grandmother: The tribe's herbalist. It was under her that Qira learned most of what she know about herns and remedies. It was also her grandmother, who taught her the importance of not just what herbs can do, but that everything has some purpose that they can fulfill.
Physical Appearance
Qira is a female Amrilni, with wheat colored fur covering her body and with lighter coloring on her chest, stomach and muzzle. She has several spiraling patterns dyed into her fur, primarily on her arms, chest and back with each having a set of meanings:- Arms: The patterns on her arms shows her name and her home island of Kiahilani, alongside her occupation as a herbalist and historian.
- Chest: The set on her chest are intended to show her desire to learn and to be with others, with a double koru just above her heart representing a start on her new life by leaving Kiahilani to explore the world.
- Back: The patterns on her back shows her family history, with the most recent additions being her relationship with Sahi and Miles.
Apparel & Accessories
Qira wears a small assortment of clothing on an average day. Her clothing tends to primarily be either a skirt or loincloth combined with a top. Additionallly, when she is travelling she is typically wearing a blue coat with green insignias of her community running along the collar and bottom of the coat, with the rest of her clothing tending towards green and blue as well.Beyond just these, she typically has her bags with her. A set of two satchels, one tied above the other and under which she attaches her journal so that it is safely carried. She also carries a carved cane to support herself on due to her leg injury.
Personality
Qira is generally extroverted, though she struggles at reading people and sometimes social situations correctly. Despite of this, she is almost always in a good mood and maintains a curious outlook at the world around her, when she isn't overwhelmed by too many sensory inputs at the same time or being distracted. She often draws and writes about the world around her, with all of her notes being kept within her journal. When she isn't appreciating the world around her or talking with people, then it isn't unusual to find her in a corner somewhere, reading any book she has found, though she particularly favor stories and books about plants.Contrasting all of this, she has trouble seeing the point of larger cities compared to smaller tribes and often find them too busy. Though she can appreciate those with natural beauty, such as parks and wild areas, she finds that those without it are depressing to her and the ideas of city-walls to be restraining.
Background
Qira was born on the island of Kiahilani, from which she gets her name, within the Samkani region in the Ketrikkhaz Archipelago. As with most Dulinri, she was brought up being taught by both her family and her community once she was old enough, she began to gravitate between the various occupations in her tribe until it was almost time for her to select which one she would ultimately go into an apprenticeship under. This choice became complicated, as she was injured during a hunt shortly prior to her 15th birthday. Though she mostly recovered, the bone in her right leg healed improperly, leaving her with pain when she stands on it and requiring her to use a cane to walk properly.
Family
She has a large extended family, with some of the most notable immediate being:- Mother: A tribe fisherwoman. She makes the best stew Qira knows of.
- Father: A sailor and trader who one day brought home the journal Qira keeps all her thoughts and experiences in.
- Second Aunt: One of the tribe tailors who usually makes fishing nets and thatching that the tribe needs. She was the one who made Qira's coat for her.
- Grandma: The tribe's herbalist. She makes both salves, remedies and the dyes that the tribe uses to mark their fur. Though she is old enough to be one of the elders, she denies the distinction of becoming one.
- Uncle: A trader and explorer, who is typically gone for months at a time.
