Zat-Kai
Zat-kai was skink chief born to the beast caste.
Zat-kai emerged from his spawning pool with a subtle scale pattern signifying the favor of Xholanka the lost Old Ones. A near identical scale pattern to that of Kaitar the Saurus hero.
Zat-kai was a jack-of-all-trades, with a great many skills and aptitudes but never at the top of the pack in any category. Marked with a grand destiny, Zat-kai spent most of his life in a sort of existential crisis, feeling unable to live up to the great expectations placed upon him.
Then he was given a great and dangerous quest to recover the Crown of the Brother's Bridge. A quest that allowed the Slann of Klodorex to reestablish telepathic contact with the Slann of the Southlands. A quest detailed in the novelette Divided We Fall, 18,840 words.
Like every First of Klodorex with "Kai" in his name, Zat-kai met a tragic end.
