the Cactus Coast
The Cactus Coast is named for the prevailent cacti.
Unlike a desert cactus, the local species of cacti here requires lots of rainfall to survive, but due the natural rain shadow here, the cactus gets plenty of rain. The cacti is invasive and keeps most other Lustrian plants at least in the small crescent shaped region where the soil allows the cacti to grow.
To most visitors to Lustria, the Cactus Coast just seems like one more natural barrier to invaders. No one likes thorns, and there aren't many lootable sites near it, so most invaders choose to go around the Cactus Coast
Most outsiders assume that like with most natural hazards in Lustria, this is just the tip of the iceberg and assume the Cactus Coast holds many hidden horrors.
In reality, the Cactus Coast is one of the least dangerous places in Lustria. The Cacti are spikey, but unlikely other plants in Lustria, they aren't carnivorous, they don't move and they aren't poisonous. Anyone with a good machete and some patience can hack a path through.
Geography
The Cactus Coast region is a crescent shaped region of coastline dominated by a fast growing cacti that thrives in conditions of the local soil and heavy rainfall.
Fauna & Flora
The coastline is covered with the cacti and little else in terms of plants. A few small insects and lizards that have adapted to living on and off of these cacti dwell in the area, and a few larger predators feed on this cacti loving herbivores.
There aren't many animals large enough to threaten a skink or human though.
Tourism
Most outsiders go around the area because the Cactus Coast is far from most sites known to have treasure and outsiders find the thorny plants irksome at best, forboding at worst.
But the area does attract Skinks from. The Cactus juice is sweet and delicious, and makes excellent tequilla when fermented.
