The Holy Guard

The Holy Guard serves as the centralized military order of Winderia. While each city-state maintains its own militia, they also house Holy Guard members equivalent to their military need.   The Holy Guard follows a typical military structure. Each city-state's division of Holy Guard soldiers are commanded by a General. Per each city-state's needs, the General has a number of Majors, Captains, Lieutenants, and Sergeants down the hierarchy to the front-line soldiers. The leader of the the military order is the General of Mystryl, otherwise known as the Knight of Mystra, who works closely with the High Priestess of Mystra and the Church of Mysteries in governing the Confederation Arcanum.   The Holy Guard is made up mostly of paladins and fighters. It also has specialized units that include some rangers and rogues, as well as its own group of clerics devoted to combat and healing. It even has the "Drum Corps," as folks like to call it: talented bards that inspire soldiers in battle. Barbarians typically find the structure too strict for their liking. The Guard contains surprisingly few wizards. Most evokers have joined the militia in Mur, while other wizards most frequently congregate near their associated wellsprings and live lives of study, influence, and comfort.

The Midnight Mountain Incident

During the Midnight Mountain Incident, Virgil Halathar sacrificed himself to close the portal to the Void. He is presumed dead, and no successor has been identified. With the loss of the Arcane Blade, it is unclear how Mystra will identify to the Holy Guard and approve a new Knight.
