Kingdom of Delryn
The Kingdom of Delryn, sometimes referred to simply as Delryn, is located on the Eastern half of Westra. It is 106,000 m2 in area, shares the continent with the United Tribes of Mare'n to the west, and shares maritime borders with the Marches of Ryfile, the Marches of Risand, Mare'n, the Principality of Arion, the Free Territory of Galanthis, and The Brilliant Empire. The capital is Delryn City.
Delryn City is the Kingdom's capital and seat of power, but it's size and population is rivaled by other large cities where there are ports or Noble houses or other particular influence. Languages
The majority of Delrynians speak Common. Religion
Almost all Delrynians are followers of The Senary, though the Kingdom does not have an official religion and other deities are also worshipped.
Delryn has two peninsulas. The northern peninsula creates the land mass between the Narrow Sea and the Crater Sea, while the southern peninsula creates the eastern border of the Peaceful Sea. The continent also touches the Great Sea. It shares a border with the United Tribes of Mare'n to its immediate East. The entirity of the country is 106,000 miles2. The country has two notably large mountain ranges, the Ghostfall Range to the north and the Starhold Range to the south. Lake Tameli, which lies near the middle of the Kingdom, has an area of 3,600 miles2 Climate and Biomes
The country is composed of grasslands, mixed and deciduous forests, and some alpine habitats in the mountain ranges. The country experiences four seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter). In the summer, temperatures can reach 90*. In the winter, they drop to the low 20s. Temperatures in the mountains stay lower, even the heat of summer.
Delryn is ruled by a Constitutional Monarchy, wherein the Monarch has absolute power with a two specific exceptions: the Monarch is subject to the rule of all current laws, and the Monarch can be forced to abdicate in favor of their Heir by unanimous vote of the Royal Council and Kingdom Council. The line of succession for both the Monarchy and the Kingdom's nobles is by default the eldest child regardless of gender. The Monarch can change the order of succession with the uninanimous confimation of the Royal Council or a two-thirds majority confirmation from both councils. Nobles may change the order of succession for their houses with the consent of both the displaced heir and ascending heir-elect, with the support of the Monarch, or with a two-thirds majority confirmation of both councils.
Laws in the Kingdom of Delryn can be passed, changed, or stricken from the record in the following ways:
The Royal Council is made up of six members.
The Kingdom Council is made up of twelve members. Some of those members are members of the Royal council who hold a Kingdom council seat by law, or who hold two council seats by some other mechanism - in the case that both Councils are voting, these individuals' votes count twice. Foreign Relations
The Principality of Arion is a vassal state of Delryn, with whom diplomatic relations are still strong. The leader of Arion by law has a seat on the Royal Council, though this seat is often yielded to a child or heir as the Monarch of Arion tends to the Principality. Delryn has friendly or neutral relationships with the Marches, Mare'n, Galanthis, and the Triumverate of Nikandros. While not yet openly at war, relations between Delryn and the Empire are tense and border skirmishes and conflict on the Seas is not uncommon. This also strains the relationship between Delryn and the Empire's vassal states: the Principality of Heirin, the Principality of Staton, and the Oskksulian Protectorate. Economy
Delryn has prosperous trade with the Marches, Mare'n, Galanthis, and Nikandros. Their primary exports are things that cannot be mined or farmed easily in those countries, as well as luxury goods produced by their skilled guildspeople. There is no trade with the Empire proper, though there is still some trade with the Empire's vassal states.
