Self-control

by Roshanna

So we went off to Gundabar. I tried to spend as much time as possible on deck - when I went inside in those small crammed spaces I immediately felt like I had an ancient fort pressing down on me. I had a talk with Jay about it, which turned into a discussion on luck. Apparently she's mad at Tymora, because she thinks that luck is unfair. And yes, luck is very unfair, but personally I prefer some randomness in my life to everything being predestined.

Also, Daar is mothering me. It is really getting on my nerves. I know she means well, but gah! Sometimes she can be so insightful, but at the same time she has so little experience of life, having had such a sheltered upbringing. Not that I wish my on experiences on her, or anyone, but she just have no idea. And I really don't want to dig up my past to make her understand.

We got to Gundabar in good time. People were just as reserved as I remembered. The Howling Wind from Luskan was docked. I never liked their captain. On the way from the docks one of their crew stared at Jay and followed us to the inn. I kind of seduced the bartender and she told us something about that there had been two giants in the eastern part of the island, of which one had died. She also spoke of some cult in Gaur. We first suspected cult of the dragon of course, but then we sat down to talk to the one who had noticed Jay. I read his mind, and he was surprised that Jay was live, had admiration to a dragon that he wanted to free (and his favourite color was blue) - a dead giveaway to belonging to cult of the dragon - and he seemed to have no idea about a cult in Gaur. So maybe a giant cult? Who knows.

I decided to send Mezzin as a cat to spy on the ship. He had not much luck, apparently the crew has no love for cats, neither the woman in purple who seemed to be a passenger disgruntled over repairs and delays. She threw Mezzin over board. Horrible woman, I hope I get to throw _her_ overboard.

We kept the ship under surveillance. During my watch I went on board, invisible to see if I could discern anything. The apparent trader has cannons, and gunpowder. Guess they're not very peaceful. I was so tempted to shove the immovable rod down one of the cannons to see what happened when they set sail. I didn't, and I almost regret that now. Delaying them further might seem petty, but I doubt they have good intentions, captain or passenger. They do have plenty of treasure on board, on locked chests. I'd like to get my hands on those...

Anyway, nothing in particular happened during the night, and they set off. We decided to go to Gaur and see what's going on - Aurora should be able to catch up to the Howling Wind without problems.
