Trying out a new spell, I summoned a horse so Jay and I could get a bit faster to our destination. We got a few looks, and Jay reminded me that horses usually aren't mint green or have two horns. Huh, I must have forgotten. It was a nice horse thing anyway and I decided to call him Griffin. I'm sure Captain would have loved him. Anyway, we went to see Candil Half, a half elf and a friend of Jay's. Apparently Cat used to live there, but Candil hadn't seen him. On our way back to our new home we passed by Jay's parents' tannery and I went in to lure out one of the workers there. Jay's mother looked a lot like her, but was thoroughly unpleasant. I pity Jay for having to grow up in such a humourless home. The worker hadn't seen Cat either, sadly.
When we came back to the Tavern we had been joined by Bree, and they had decided we should go talk to the incoming cloud giants. Said and done, we boarded Aurora and met the flying castle head on. I must say it looked quite spectacular. I wonder if Denyeses would like one of those.
We were met by the giant Arryn, who told us it was the castle of Count Nimbolo. We were granted an audience with him and the Countess Melara. I was quite taken by Melara, she seemed to not be as obsessed with glitter and shine as the others, but displayed her wealth more tastefully, in a simple coat with lush embroideries. I also had the distinct feeling that she was commandeering the ship, even though she barely spoke.
The count told us that Waterdeep stood where one of the fortifications of Ostoria once had been and that they were about to try to map it out. They said they wouldn't have to disturb the city much, but I don't think they cared if smallfolk came in their way or not. At least they weren't planning on rebuilding Ostoria, like Countess Sansuri who is currently somewhere to the south.
They also told us that Hekaton's wife had been murdered, possibly by small folk. Her body had been found on Gumdarlum. I hope we can go there to check it out, it would be nice to visit that port again, I have some good (and also a few bad, and a few non existent) memories from there.
We told them we would try to talk to the leaders of Waterdeep on their behalf. I wonder how that will turn out...
