Session 43 - Troll's Denthoum

We chase after the troll like creatures as they run off from Austar's Major Illusion of a shadowy creature. Austar also cast's invisibility on myself, Ape and Malaphor. Sailor gives his cloak of invisibility to Raskin and then turns himself into a giant eagle.
 
After an hour or so of tracking them we arrive into somewhat of a small clearing in the jungle and as Ape and Austar step over, they get electrocuted. Ape not affected but Austar takes a fair bit of damage from a fern like brush.
 
As we're waiting at this clearing trying to figure out where the troll creatures went. Austar casts True Seeing on himself and notices that my boots aren't leather or dirty as they seem to me, Sailor is some thorn wreathed flame entity and Edwin is some sort of spirit. Malaphor casts True Seeing on myself and I notice these things too. More importantly that my boots are made of a stunning bronze metal, coming up to my shins. Further enhancing my want to find more Words of Moradin.
 
We carry on past this clearing with electric ferns with Sailor leading the way. We come into another clearing and see strange creatures grazing. We also notice several small pools of water where one of the creatures appears from. Sailor and I notice just off to the left hand side of the clearing in the treeline, a shrouded shape moves. A large shape leaps from the opposite side of the clearing onto one of the deer like creatures. Creature is scaled and reptilian but large. Sailor goes forward and polymorphs it. As he turns around to give us a thumbs up he then gets grabbed from another hiding in the pools and a short fight breaks out.
 
Malaphor and I dive into one of the pools as we can both breathe underwater. We end up in a naturally occurring tunnel which we go down that has a slight pull. Few turns we end up in a large underwater cavern of some kind. We swim up and end up in a cavern which is under the tree line as as we see cracks in the ceiling letting light in.
As we push forward, we're essentially in a ravine with a crack at the top where the jungle is coming through. Some basic buildings similar in style to the old goliath buildings at the top of the Blacktop Pass.
 
We pass through mouth looking entrance and figure out that Divination spells don't work down here for some reason. We go down the spiral path that has some lit torches on the sides. We end up in a repurposed cavern of some kind. Jungle vegetation grown in, but more commonly the stone surfaces are splattered with filth, dirt, gloop. Further in we see one of the troll creatures, carving bits of meat off of something dead. About 150 or so feet away, we see another troll like creature. Standing beside some sort of pit into darkness, around it remains of limestone pillars, some still standing but most crumbled and ruined. What stands out to all of us, is the creepy carving into the back of the cavern wall. Bottom half of a face, mouth carved to be open as if screaming, tongue hanging out. The troll tosses a golden platter filled with bones and meat into the pit.
 
Two of the trolls come towards us and a fight starts.
During our fight we hear guttural noises coming from the pit. Part way through, a giant serpent like creature, with 3 heads appears from the pit, two massive clawed hands, hundreds of snakes, standing at 40 feet or so tall, 35 feet wide, who we assume is Denthoum that the trolls mentioned at the river. Likely the creature that I sensed that resonated with my elemental affinity.
We manage to defeat Denthoum and as I absorb it's essence, I realise that it wasn't anywhere near the level that I would need to achieve mastery.
