Day Four, Two tasks.
Say what you will about physical activities but waking up this morning I felt even more refreshed than usual… Even more so than after that abominable mushroom’s pox. Though I do understand that sleep isn’t quite so refreshing for those without my particular constitution.
 
Our first task was for the Emerald Boughs. Strands-of-Glowing-Dawn and Ignaci met us in the morning. Ruin had to get a couple of pokes in at Ignaci for losing the game last night, but well… That’s nothing new.
We split the letters up in an attempt to be faster, but all-in-all I’m not really sure how much time we actually saved.
Ruin and I spent a few hours delivering letters with near-illegible addresses on them, but I’ve worked for people with worse handwriting, deciphering them wasn’t an issue. When we returned to the others it turned out that we’d somehow chosen the simplest of the delivery tasks.
Mr. Malnar, Ms. Mukami and Mr. Cuali had to deliver a number of deific missives in incredibly specific ways. Written on an egg and eaten by a snake, or attached to a kite and thrown off of a cliff… That kind of thing.
The last missive required the assistance of not just myself and Ruin, but Ms. Esi and Ms. Root too. A message to Nethys that required all manner of spells cast upon it.
 
The last item of this particular saga was… an experience. A package dispute. Students delivered a package to the wrong address, students who in my humblest opinion, should be flayed alive and turned into coats.
An absolute ogre of a woman named Jatia had wrongly received a package bound for a lovely young woman, Ms. Nabibi.
A Mauxi stained-glass lamp of great sentimental value. Jatia refused to give it back…
From what I could gather, and from what I eventually saw of the inside of her house, Jatia is both a hoarder and a peacock. Her need to collect, gloat and display her spoils was almost draconic. Safe to say she got on everyone's nerves.
Charm didn’t work, diplomacy didn’t work. So in the end it mostly came down to veiled threats.
Regardless, we got the lamp back to Ms. Nabibi and I have to say I’m quite proud of Ruin for keeping her cool.
 
We returned to the Magaambya and were met with our final task, to tell the story of our past week to Noxolo and Okoro. Of course Mukami immediately derailed it, not a storyteller among this bunch, but I didn’t ruin their fun. We got there eventually.
 
I’m not sure what comes next? Some sort of ceremony where we choose our study branches? I couldn’t say.
 
I hope I can continue to learn this way for a long time to come.
