[The little one, Ms. M'Olivia, gave me an idea that I've been caught on for longer than usual… a barrel of telescoping lenses, after the fashion of an arquebus or crossbow, that concentrates light into a beam capable of igniting combustible material. With magic at my fingertips I can’t say I’d have a use for it but the challenge intrigues me.]
 
After the test came the dormitory, once again, not quite what I was expecting.
 
Ms. Esi, Mr. Chizire, Mr Ignaci and Ms. Anchor Root I met in person, but if my recollection serves me a Kibwe, Nyxolo and Haram were mentioned?
 
Ms Esi and Ms. Anchor Root are pleasant company… Let’s not spoil a nice thought by bringing up the rest.
 
There was talk about some kind of competition but as is the running theme of this place, the details are fuzzy.
Bathrooms to the East and the West but for some reason the Eastern ‘wing’ has been left in a state of some disuse.
I tried to take a bath and was attacked by Spellskeins of all things. I had Mr. Cuali and Mr. Malnar take care of it, not that I couldn’t handle it myself… but my towels are 100% Rahadoum cotton. Yes I could mend it if it got cut up, but honestly just the fact that I’d know it had been damaged makes a difference…
 
Afterwards I tidied up the Bathroom. If I’m going to use it from now on it might as well be presentable. Less places for those little Spellskeins to hide as well.
Ms. M’Olivia and Ms. Ruin have a similar approach to bathing it seems… In that they have no approach to it what-so-ever. Not that I particularly enjoy the thought of having to house train them, but if we’re going to be living in the same dorms it comes down to self preservation really.
 
Now. Ms. M’Olivia… I’m finding my initial read on her may have been far too shallow. She is an incredibly intense person, her hero-worship of Ms. Ruin is a little concerning, I fear she may traumatize Ms. Anchor Root and I’m almost certain she tried to make me jealous of a stuffed toy frog. Thankfully it’s not me she’s focussed on.
 
I’ll be honest, a lot is happening and most of it is not worth the cost of the ink I'd use to commit it to paper.
 
We were shown the spire, namesake of the dorm, an interesting gimmick. Gravitational magic is something I will have to study some more.
The frog pond out back is quite soothing, nothing poisonous but I’m sure Atronea would love it all the same.
The dining hall – No further explanation.
And finally, The student supply store - The Powder Pile.
This alone was almost entirely worth it. Genuine spell scrolls without an exorbitant mark-up! No contracts or stipulations or demands of unpaid apprenticeships.
 
We also get a stipend? I’m in paradise.
Maybe it was all worth it after all.
