Yesterday ended mostly in pleasure. Today is all about work. Seems fair...
Yesterday just before the evening dinner I contacted my brother Donaar. He is in Baldur's gate and will stay there for a while. He didn't answer clearly if he was all right though. I'm a bit worried, especially with the news about countess Sansuri.
During the afternoon I mostly organized things so that the tavern would be more habitable. We've had a contact through Roshanna so it might become a proper tavern soon. The beds all have sheets and matresses, but they are in a bad shape. We need proper furniture. The workers will take care of the house soon. Maybe at some point we need to report to Volo? Liv was useful during the dinner. He served drinks, and helped me do the dishes afterwards. That was nice.
Mom, Dad and the siblings started arriving for the family dinner. I told them to not bring food, but they still brought a little something each, of course. It was nice to eat from my favorite dishes :)
We also invited the crew of the ship. Some staying behind to guard it. I gave Bree some leftovers for them when she left. I hope they had a nice time, it must be a hard life to always be on the ship.
Jay's friends were there too. I'm glad she got some time with them, although Cat was really in _no_ shape to party. Let's hope he recuperates his energy and finds a way to get his soul back. I need to talk to him at some point. Maybe let him meet Laeral so he can help and thus bring back his soul from the contract? But not now. He needs to rest.
The evening turned very much into something bigger than I expected when Roshanna's love came in. Roshanna had a very nice dress. Daenisis... well, he is charming of course, but he always does everything too much. I guess that's how the Feywild works, and he brings it with himself. I got a bit worried when Roshanna disappeared with him at some point, but I asked at the door, and she assured me she was ok... even via message so...
I'm glad this evening was so nice for everybody. I wanted them all to meet, and also have an occasion to get news exchanged and that is precisely what was done! Some music and beautiful dancing by Roshanna and Jay also happened. Those women can dance! :) Also : having a tankard of sobriety makes everything so much easier. I'll see if i get used to the taste of beer, but at least I can drink without fear of the alcohol in it. :)
Well, I got to sleep in my room for the first real time. Note : get a new bed. I could mend this one, but it will crack again soon. I like my matress and sheets though :) Maybe i'll also get a desk and a proper harp. And a bucket and such.
Word today... Well, i was very very stressed by the giants. We went to meet the professor my mom and dad told me about. He was waiting for us and ready to go. Professor Sand is a gnome, with a great interest in artefacts it seems. He doesn't seem to have a good grasp of time though, so I took him with us instead of giving him a meeting time. We went to Oghma's temple, but the info there had nothing on a specific Ostorian fort under Waterdeep. Pr. Sand had more info on this, and he led us to a great dig site. The couple Nimbolo with two very young stone giants came down. The stone giants dug in and we quickly identified the fort - not before having to fight a storm giant squeletton though. I tried to make sure the stone giants understood we were in this together, and that animosity between giants and small folk didn't need to be a thing. The poor youngins had barely learnt some common in school, i wonder how old they were. And where do giants go to school? Hmm, i should get better informed. Go back to the temple. Or to Candlekeep?
Well, I realized a bit late that I had mistakenly thought the giants wanted a cartography of the fort. They apparently mostly wanted to make sure where the fort was on a map. I managed to hold them up long enough for the stone giants to help fill in the big hold they created, leaving only a little entryway that can be guarded. Then they all went to the second dig site indicated by Pr. Sand, while we decided to get back down. I need to apologize. I was so worried that I was harsh to my friends in there. Duty and being a good friend are sometimes not easily combined!
