Over the Palatrium, we got to see the wedding of Captain Koleen, and the Nahgri assassin on the other side of the galaxy, officiated by her previous husband, Vance Kerplokken. The ceremony invalidated his prior political wedding to one of the brides.
Wow.
Lt. Jessup and the Chimera were ready to ship out.
The Commissar was present to see us off. Vanya exchanged many kind words, reducing my calculated odds that she will attempt to destroy the universe to less than 47%. She gave us a very unfamiliar Sith salute, and offered to help us if we re ever in dire need, (likely, next Satunda).
We jumped to hyperspace in the Night Sparrow to join So'Zen and his galactic safety issue. The Crimson Knights told us they had been on the planet for a year, mostly helping the locals rebuild the collateral damage done to their planet by the war in orbit. Sargon and the Eboreans both fighting over the Sun Spear. They said Palpatine was as interested in the Key as to the Sun Spear. Logically, the Sith had heard of some other ability or knowledge hidden inside the Key. A force-order in the Mecha System reportedly heard rumors of what the Sith wanted about it. Palpatine wanted to experiment on a member of the force order. (Any one would do.)
Palpatine had many labs hidden on many planets. The Crimson Knights want to investigate all those.
The CK's knew Sargon Xan Duran truly hates the CK's deeply. The Dark Side is the mortar holding his shattered pieces together. His evil plans have five deeper levels of plans. His fighting style was a mix of Jedi Diplomats, Jem So, and the CK style, and his lightsaber skill include Vor saber-rake foil training.
Palpatine always tried to get his hooks into one member of every influential family as his lackeys.
The Imperial Star Destroyer, Star of Judgement, with escort of SOB's arrived. Sisters of the Steel Rose. Vanya radioed Cannoness Kathalon on the Litany of Steel escort ship to get an appointment with Yeagar Lexxics, the imperial consort. She invoked the "Mister Happy Inspection", a surprise inspection common to their past.
We arrived with Lt. Jessup and one of the former Death Troopers, now the parasite removal task force. Cannoness Kathalon met us and Vanya checked on the Mister Happy situation, which I was beginning to believe was a code for a mobile weapon of mass destruction, such as a thermal detonator. I showed Yeager that I still had the cigar he last gave me. Yeager (Dark Trooper-N-0013) met Lt Jessup and DT-1332 Callus Sornek, of the new Blackjack Squadron. Vanya bought up the lack of back pay for the Lt and his crew. Yeager, the Imperial Consort agreed to provide back pay for all, accept those few who wanted to remain in the Katana fleet for prisoner swap, send those who wished to be discharged from the military to Coruscant, and accept those who (like Jessup) were willing to swear allegiance to the empire, including the anti-parasite task force. Jessup quickly became a useful assistant to the Imperial Consort.
We enjoyed refreshments, including "Tatooine Swamp Rats in a Blanket". The paperwork was handled in record time. Yeager took a call from the Empress, after which he mentioned giving Jessup the Medal of Honor due to something else in his official history record. Interesting.
We dropped out of hyperspace in Chalcedom proper. The mysterious hyperspace rift was still there, with more military craft at the observation station. The planet had a lot of activity too, active patrols from the Bureau of Ships and Services. They hailed us, and scanned us for viral contamination and infiltration (Reaver-infected cargo or any in low-berth or cryo-freeze, or Replicant Combat Droid Terminators). I checked our passive sensor logs and found they had performed a genetic medical scan. They did not appear to be surprised by our Eborean on board. It could have been a parasite inspection, possibly.
We immediately went to see Damien Vor Paderon, Danar's surprise forced-growth clone. Or was it? He seemed prepared to give us an angry speech until I gave him my Vor shield belt. He explained that the invisibility hologram and grav-glove Danar used to play Jedi Quest were actually his, taken after a duel between the two.
Between the two of us, we offered Damien the chance to be a better General Vance Kerplokken than his older brother Danar had been. I helped Damien to shave and make himself look more like Danar. Then I whipped up a Reese Pieces Outlaw Tech costume to make him look like he was the outlaw tech standing next to Vanya coming out of the ship. And I changed my appearance to the Correlian Lounge Lizard persona I made up (with great success) many years ago, so I could blend into the background. He was then ready to unveil himself as the legendary General Vance Kerplokken, savior of Chalcedon and step into that role wholeheartedly (if only to show he can do it better than his brother had).
We made him up while Vanya prepared the government for the return of Kerplokken. We took him to a suitable room and unveiled him to the Chancellor and the world. He nailed it.
Just as he was about to reveal some of the security improvements (and morale boosts) that we had hastily planned, when the Jedi So'Zen arrived from what we thought was the other side of the galaxy. He sent his astromech, Bishop, to contact us quietly while the local city heaved a sigh of relief.
(The sand knights, it appeared, were worried about something. We would have to check on them.)
Bishop projected a message to Vanya: So'Zen, saying, "Help us, Vanya! You're our only hope!" Then Bishop said, "We need to rescue some hostages... It's some system you can only get to through the Rift. They have some ADVANCED tech!" We showed us a rune-covered world of humaoids with grey skin and centaur droids flying and attacking So'Zen and Captain Kolleen. Then Bishop offered Ricoh what the Jedi call a "multi-tool" (without the kyber crystal in it) to give to Emperor Gregor.
(( KitKat uses his datapad (and Chancellor's Assistant credentials) to order a 12pack of root beer delivered here ASAP. ))
So'Zen had found the lost Katana Fleet and they were upset at him. He, Koleen, and the real Kerplokken had made their escape to an inhabited world where the locals (Cestians, good merchants) were being attacked by centaur-shaped droids who were taking hostages, possibly taking them to their crashed underground space ship. Now with the Katana fleet close, matters were worse. The Katana fleet had somehow been pulling ships out of hyperspace, boarding them, taking many of the crew, leaving the rest infected with the Reaver virus, then sending them back into hyperspace toward Chalcedon. I think we need to nip all that right in the bud.
So'Zen also said Kerplokken had had some unfortunate facial changes. He really needs a master of disguise like me to patch him up until he can find a good expensive doctor.
And Captain Koleen's ship is missing its roof due to the centaurs. That too needs to big fixed.
