The Smoke Family are the historic rulers of the city of Slate Sky in the Frost Plains, Jarls under the Great Jarl of Norveil and the Jarldom of Norveil, and Lords of Firebreath Hold.

Jarls of Slate Sky
- Corin Smoke -- 1070 - 1132 -- Jarl of Slate Sky and consort to Jessic I Medvidev, a marrige that ended the Expansion Wars. He is also the father of Rodgier I Medvidev and Alshlyn I Medvidev.
- Colden "One Hand" Smoke -- 1240 - 1267 -- Rebeled against the Norveil crown, and act that lead to the Battle of Raindance Wood in 1267 against Great Jarl Alshlyn II. During the battle Colden fell from his dragon Decade and died.
- Jarl Rikkan Smoke -- ??? -- Second sone of Colden One Hand, he became Jarl of Slate Sky in 1267 after his fathers rebellion and the Battle of Raindance Wood.
- Jarl Donhiro Smoke -- ??? - 1305 -- Jarl of Slate Sky and leader of the New Norveil Coalition during the Sivien Civil War. Donhiro commanded the ground armies for Rast the Turncloak during the war and won the March on Siv. However, after the loss during the Second Sivien Rush he was beheaded for treason.
- Talin Smoke -- ??? - 1302 -- First son of Jarl Donhiro Smoke and Dragonrider for Vensight. After killing Prince Mykhail Medvidev and the grey dragon Mountainside in the March on Siv Talin fell in battle after Vensight was slain by a volley of scorpion bolts.
