Clan Ansigtsløse
Structure
The Ansigtsløse are ruled by The Speaker following the removal of their right to a Jarl after the Emerald King's reign. The position of Speaker is never formerly appointed but instead taught to the next in line by will of Gruumsh, the Whisperer. Their rule is absolute and it is said that all the knowledge and wisdom is passed on to their mind, for this reason the Speaker does not go on tasks for the Clan but instead grants forms and knowledge to complete them.
Culture
As a society of now only Changelings the Ansigtsløse hold fits the needs of its people through the use of illusion magic and its members view themselves not as individuals but as a collective 'we'.
History
Clan Ansigtsløse came as the followers of Gruumsh who they call the whisperer. To them Gruumsh is depicted as a sly slender figure wielding knives and striking at the most vulnerable points of a foe and so too do they act in battle and thought. For much of their history they were distrusted but considered a necessary evil to the valley, then following a series of questionable events the Jarl of the Anstiglose, a human named Arne Stiegsson, was elected as the Warchief of all Solstein.
As Warchief Stiegsson saw an age of terror and bloodshed to his people and others as warriors, critics, and in some cases even Jarl's were replaced by Ansigtsløse agents empowering his total control of the region. Adorned in gemstones taken from his first great raid Warchief Stiegsson claimed the title of King of Solstein and anounced his rule would be eternal. His court followed suit to his trend with each of his most senior allies claiming an emerald ring as a sign of their loyalty. Eventually the Emerald King's replacements were exposed with the aid of a wanderer from the mountain and Forsker discoveries. A civil war broke out and following several bloody battles his court turned on him and executed the Emerald King before fleeing the valley through the Calgurn Pass.
As punishment for their actions Clan Ansigtsløse were stripped of their right to a Jarl meaning they would no longer have a vote over the warchief or indeed be able to seek the position themselves. The Ansigtsløse took this punishment without challenge and have since gradually dwindled in power with those who would once have used their schemes now ever more hesitant to employ their tools.
