Clan Forsker
Structure
Clan Forsker Jarl's are decided by their predecessor whose first act on election is to write in a tome placed in the grand hall that can be opened only on their passing. The name can be changed at any time and they are free to state who they have placed inside if they wish. Often it is divined who should best rule next though some Jarl's instead chose a clansmen most talented in a certain school of magic.
In practice the Jarl only governs everyday affairs of the clan with the long term thinking and general guidance being the responsibility of the Watcher in the Woods, though the mythical figures identity is only known to the clan itself.
Culture
Forsker society traditionally alternates between raiding and hibernation seasons. Raiding seasons include the pillaging of others for wealth and resources, inside Solstein if they cannot leave, and hibernation involves looking within to their needs and managing their affairs.
Magic is widespread among the Forsker who freely share its wisdom and offer seek master over a specific school. The sharing of knowledge is considered a great duty but to those beyond the Forsker they are wary in case it should be misused. This fear of the misue of magic has led the Forsker to tend to be more isolationist than other Clans getting involved in others affairs only when necessary.
History
Since the discovery of the Watcher in the Woods by the early settlers of the Forsker clan they have been a font of wisdom and learning to the others. Forsker magicians solve problems other clans cannot overcome with force or their own specialisms and within their walls are pages of forgotten lore and wisdom.
Known to the clan as the 'Dark Days' the rule of the Emerald King saw the Forsker persecuted greatly with their mages tortured to reveal secrets, their hold plundered for secrets and lore and rumours being spread so deeply that none believed any of their claimed trespassers were real, and those few who did, believed they were justified. The Forsker responded by hiding great numbers of their knowledge across their hold with those hiding it often taking their lives after to stop the Emerald King's agents extracting the knowledge. When finally the Varcheg revolted the Forsker's claims were revealed to be true and with it the full schemes of the Emerald King.
To this day the Forsker are still resolved to rediscovering the lost knowledge of that time. Despite their best efforts they have barely managed to reclaim half of what was lost which harbours much of their resting hatred to the Ansigtsløse who they believe still hold much of their lost lore.
The Forsker voted in favour of Skade as warchief and served as distant supporters of her regime sending voices to her counsel but never staying any longer than required by their oaths and commands.
Worship
The Forsker depict the Everwatcher as a tall gruff shaman who uses magic to defeat his foes and outfox their strategems.
