Life, Milestone
The Path of Nightshade confronts The Demogorgon in the wake of the death of Reginard and stops the acension of The Prince of Demons.
Alcath sees the Demogorgon and everything clicks. He is reminded of an insert he read about it. The Demogorgon reacts twice to all situations, and with too many reactions, it can paralyze him. Alcath also feels the sensation of a warm fireside and a cozy cottage. He gets the distinct impression that he is doing something good and helpful. He looks at his bow and notices that the swirling patterns have sped up and multiplied. Thuniel feels additional power from her sword. The Demogorgon has high passive perception and Truesight. We are far enough away that he can’t see us, but we are the only ones on the street right now. The Gorgon is immune to poison and non-magical weapons, and charmed, frightened. He is resistant to fire. We debate what to do and land on calling for help by having Caia use Alcath’s Thaumaturgy and Gilly’s voice. We decide to yell to people to meet at the Pole to gather anyone we can to help. The hope is to get Trigger and Big Tuna to show up to help. Thuniel takes Gilly on Meera and starts moving toward the Pole, Caia starts yelling, and the party starts running with Alcath on rearguard. We see people peeking out of their homes, but Alcath isn’t persuasive enough. We book it and make it to the ShaDough with only a little stumbling and horse-based corrections. We make it to the square and set up our ambush. Gilly retrieves some containers from the bakery. We get traps and spells ready. Then he appears and all our actions trigger. Caia’s earth tremor causes him to fall prone while Ebony throws some distractions at her. Our stuff is not great, but we do our best. Gilly is able to get Insightful Fighting on this guy, and then she takes cover. The Demigorgon gets up and tries to lash out at us. Bob rushes in and brings the beats. And Moz brings the bears. We do our best. Thuniel makes it sound like Orcus is roaring from the ruins of a building behind us. Gilly lands a serious blow with Kirbie. Moz gets seriously hurt by a major blow from the tail. He manages to frighten most of us, but Alcath manages to hurt him with Will of the Ancestors. Bob punches him and bloodies him, then runs away again, which sparks DG to tear down the building he’s in. Moz summons a storm and hits him with lightning. Then Trigger and Big Tuna rush to the rescue! Thuniel makes sure they know we need to gather as much blood as possible. Gilly manages to get uncharmed by entering the Pole’s anti-magic field. Moz’s storm continues to do great things. He goes after Bob, but he shields. Bob does flee in confusion and then tries to stop being confused. Alcath stops being scared, only to become stunned. Alcath also gets bitch-slapped real hard. Gilly runs up to try to collect the blood and Ebony needs to as well. The DG notices and realizes what we’re doing. We each get a telepathic message in our heads: He needs Gilly; Caia’s kind causes trouble, so he’ll leave her alone; Alcath is opposite of what we need; Moz is of the forest and dispensable; Bobushio has hurt him alot, but he belongs here; he’ll take what Thuniel loves first. Trigger and Big Tuna both begin to cry when they get their messages. Caia uses Mage Hand to get about half a bottle of light-colored blood, which is about a quarter of what we need in light blood. Alcath and Thuniel notice as the DG flickers and then we see drops of blood moving away, though the DG appears to be in the same place. Alcath casts Faerie Fire in the area where the blood trail is moving, but DG saves. Bob injures him, causing him to become visible again. ISAC gets a quarter bottle of dark blood. We keep at him until he collapses in pain. Gilly knows that if we kill him, he’ll disappear and we can’t get the blood. She resists him telling her not to tell us, so she can tell us to collect the blood. Alcath casts Command and tells DG to freeze. Caia heals Al as the rest of us collect blood. We get enough, and then some, of blood. And it’s Nik, not Dick, so the blood won’t disappear when DG disappears. Gilly approaches and yanks an incisor from the chaotic head, then backs up and Kirbie’s him in the eye. As she takes aim, she hears a whisper from Kirbie. It says “Well done.” and the arrow goes through both heads and it disappears.
