Avatars / Champions

During The Cataclysm, several mortals rose up to help the Ancients fight, for good and for ill. These Champions were given powerful artifacts and weapons imbued with divine power. Since then, Champions devoted to particular Ancients, both Prime and Fallen, have appeared across the annals of Arkos' history. They often are chosen to act in times of great crisis, or to assist in creating the crises in the first place.
Numina indirectly reappeared in the material world during The Cataclysm as well. Certain mortals became Avatars; conduits for the Numina’s will - all beings of incredible power capable of interacting with the Arcane Weave directly. Being filled with one of the six primordial energies of the universe, these Avatars are unmatched in their magical capability. Most mortals who become an avatar for the Numina lose their free will, being overwhelmed by the will of the Numina. Some individuals have managed to circumnavigate this occurence by dividing the mantle of avatar between multiple creatures; the ShadowWardens being an example.
