Also known as Inquisitor Barkley, the man known as Barkely is a veteran of the Third war between the
Oreion Inquisition and
Crescent Empire. His service and affinity for divine magic afforded Barkley a position within the Oreion
Inquisitors. While Barkley performed his duties with the utmost vigilance, he was often mocked by his fellow Inquisitors for his older age and wrinkly appearance, often being compared to a vulture.
In 1006 3A, Barkley ventured into Velant in search of a rogue mage fleeing from the Inquisition. It was during his search that he met
The Sanctioned, with the group helping Barkley return to normal form after he was polymorphed into a dog by the rogue mage (a fact the party does not let him live down).
Throughout his time with them, Barkley became more open-minded and in line with the ideals of the Sanctioned rather than of the Inquisition. Becoming close friends with
Deacon and
Vonro Gardrim, Barkley eventually chose to assist the Sanctioned in their efforts full-time, going as far as traveling with the group to
Serenia to confront
Janus.
After Janus' defeat, Barkley had no direction as to what to do with himself next. When Deacon made an alliance with
The UnCrowned, Barkley chose to join him, though made it clear he was loyal to his friend and not
The Lord Commander.
While some have regarded Barkley as prickly and cranky, Barkley himself has remarked that he has a downright sunny disposition compared to that of his sister, another member of the
Inquisitors.
