Davros
Loreweaver Davros Hierophant
His preferred form is that of a 6'1" fair-skinned male of half-elf origin with a slim build and thick medium-length blond hair -- usually pulled into a ponytail. His eyes are vibrantly green, his teeth straight, and his smile bright. His clothes are simple, but somehow flamboyant. He wears a long-tailed fur-lined coat with small artistic patterns and frills at the hems and tops it with an equally designed beret. He carries himself with confidence and happiness, at least when he's playing music, otherwise he tends to lean toward introversion.
Zinvel Shay (he/him/his)
His original skin was that of a young, fair skined male of human decent, with a slim frame and silky brown-black hair that was usually combed at the part. His eyes were also brown, and his teeth had a yellow tinge from so many years growing up in the Wildwood Forests far from any modern civilization. He wore simple farmer clothes and had hard callus from working on the family farm. He walked with confidence although tended to keep to himself.Betran Silvertongue, Travelling Minstrel(he/him/his)
A form chosen to help fit in around dwarves and other small folk of the world, this form is that of a sun-tanned dwarf male with tangled/dreaded brownish-red hair. His beard is most impressive, being parted into three braids that end in ornate caps of silver, platinum, and electrum. He wears dark red clothes of thurdarthian make, and boots made from chitinous cave creatures. He carries himself proudly and with much gusto, and is always ready for a drink.Storyteller Moxx, of Clan Tongues (he/him/his)
This form was chosen in the heat of the moment, to help communicate with a band of orcs who had taken up residence in Khundurkar. Upon being brought into the group as a traveler and storyteller, Moxx heard many stories from the clans elder, an elder orc named Old Yurak. Upon learning all he could, and being given the elders journal, Moxx left the clans home, only to be found a few days later - suspected of treason against a fellow orc Moxx was scarred with the symbol of the traitor on his right wrist.Holder of the Sylvan Flute
Upon reconnecting with Pan in the dreamlands, Davros' recorder was unsealed by Pan, allowing the traveling minstrel to use the items full power. Since then the fame the instrument has brought Davros is nearly unparalleled by any other of his age. While able to use this flute to magically sway the minds of those who listen, Davros has been trained not to do this, in an attempt to curb the spread of the memetic hazard known as Dance Fever. Davros does not regret being a musician of old legneds, and finds comfort in the fact that his masterpieces will be heard by common folk and studied by other bards for years to come.Mental characteristics
Personal history
Early Life
Davros was born to to a human peasant family that lived in the Gnarley Forest a ways off the beaten path, and a good fortnight of walking to Verbobonc. Living a simple single story brick home, Davros was trained in carpentry and farming from an early age by his father. By the age of 4, his father and uncle had began construction on a wooden second story addition to the homestead, as well as a detached storage shed. At the age of 7 his younger brother was born. The Snake Mound
By Davros' 9th birthday, he had found himself alone and distant with his father who had dotted his little brother since birth. This would cause him to wander deep into the strange and dense forest that surrounded the small community of 28. It was on one of these daytime wanderings that he first discovered the strange mound. Quickly becoming fascinated with it he returned to it frequently, only realizing a week later while sitting on a nearby tree-branch that the mound wound and zagged like a snake. The next day he would find the head of the snake, and that dusk Davros would stumble upon the 'mouth' of the snake, and enter the cave. He would spend many months here in this one room cave that was the snake's mouth, turning it into his own private hideout. As the time went on Davros would grow comfortable with the strange mound and cave, and would grow so bold to sleep in the mouth of the snake one night while rain and lighting thundered around. Awoken by a strike closely, his eyes caught a small tunnel in the back of the cave, revealed by the flash of light. Curious, he got up, and began to crawl through the tunnel until it opened up into a large subterranean grotto. Large pine trees and streams of fish that swam in the streams sat beneath a phosphorescent cave ceiling of vibrant purples, green and white spores released from cave mushrooms. Following the stream, the grotto opened up to reveal a ruined circular structure with just fragmentary walls made of stone. In the center of this ruin, sat a pedestal, where Davros would find a wooden tube with holes that would give his life meaning and joy. This simple recorder would occupy his entire free time. He would often come back to his hideout, and its secret tunnel to the underground grotto to be alone with his music. The Awakening of Potential
At the age of 12, Davros had begun playing his recorder at home, much to his fathers annoyance, but his mothers joy. He would still sneak off rather often to the snake mound and the grotto, but only to practice a new piece or try new hand motions and hole combinations on the recorder. One of these days happened to be the summer solstice, and upon finishing playing his newest piece, Davros heard speaking for the first time in his private hideaway. Turning on a silver, he saw sitting atop a ruined wall, was a man with goat-like horns and legs, wearing a dull green cloth as a tunic.Conversation between Davros and Pan
"Who are you!?" exclaimed Davros in with a quiver and crack in his voice.
The satyr laughs and sits up, tapping his hooves against the stones of the ruin wall, "I like that new sound you got going there kid! Sounded so nice that it woke me from my slumber!"
Davros slowly backing away from the center of the ruin, lightly placing the recorder back on its pedestal, "I'm sorry, I didn't-"
"Don't apologize boy!" says the satyr before jumping down to the ground, "That sound was hot! Groovy! Fire!"
Davros' brow furrows "G-groovy?" He had never head the word before.
"Yeah! Ya know, Groovy! Have you humans really descended the cultural ladder that much?" says the creature, approaching Davros, "Bah! No matter, I am Pan, and that is my instrument."
"I-i-i didn't mean to play it or take it! I am so-"
"I said don't apologize! Wait." the satyr stops as he gets within just feet of Davros, "You are a child! No wonder you could play it so fine."
"I am not a child, I am 12, going on 13 this fall!"
The satyr, Pan doesn't hear this - he is deep in thought.
"..."
Snapping too, Pan says "Well then it is settled. The flute is yours. I'll let you borrow it, on one condition."
"What do you want? I don't have money."
"Ha! Nothing so crass dear boy! I just want to hear something new every once and a while."
"So you just want me to play something for you and the flute is mine?"
"It is a recorder, and yes, just play me something every now and then."
Teenage Years
By the age of 14 Davros had returned to Pan almost weekly with a new piece. Impressed with his dedication to the craft, Pan began to teach Davros about how to conduct himself on stage should he ever perform solo in front of anyone else for money or fame. This would lead to Davros developing his since of style, modeling it after Pan's greens, and the purples and whites found in the grotto around where he learned and practiced his music for so long. His family life had also improved due to his friendship with Pan. Davros had began reconnecting with is father, as well as spending many hours playing with his younger brother and helping his mother around the house with chores. It was around this time that Davros began to notice a change in town. The local town hall was repurposed into a church to some group he didn't care about, and a large commentary began to form outback. By his 15th birthday the witch-hunts had began, and many of his community had been executed by the rope or burning pyres. Later that spring, the grove of the druids was ransacked and defaced. Presuming it to be the with-hunting church, the town rioted, only to be met with a quick and brutal lash of the church's steel. After this druids were hunted nightly for sport by pitchfork wielding maniacs who burned down homes in their wake.Fire on the Horizon
One night, the nightmare would find itself marching towards his family homestead. His father, always prepared for the worse, was quick to instigate his plan of reteat into the forest, but was slow in getting his wife and children out of the house. Scared, Davros would lead his family to the safety of the snake mound, and the cave, only then to realize that his father was not behind them. Returning to the town, he witnessed his father standing his ground in front of the family home, before a mob of pitchforks and torches descended on him.Davros' Plee for Help
In a blaze of fear, rage, and sorrow, Davros returned to the mouth of the snake mound, and crawled deeper before he found the grotto, leading his mother and brother along with him. Upon entering the grotto, he began screaming for Pan. "Pan! Pan! I know you can here me! Come out Pan!" he screamed as tears began to stream down his cheeks. The sound of sobbing and questions from his mother and brother mixed with the sounds of the silent pines and the slow moving stream. "PAN!" Davros screamed through the pain.
"My how loud you are screaming!" said the satyr from an unseen position.
"I need your help, my father, my family-"
"Yes, I can see you have brought others to my grove. This is a sacred place - this isn't something I will take lightly."
"Listen I don't care you lazy goat man! For years I have brought you food and entrainment! It is time you did something in return!"
"What fire! What rage! Not since my time in the courts have I heard such ferocity!" Pan appears from behind one of the ruined walls. Dressed in fine silk greens and crowned with various herbs and fruits he approached the intruders to his summer home, "What can I do you for you then?"
"Save my family please! My father he-" Davros breaks into tears.
"I suppose I have some favors I can pull. Just you three..." Pan ponders for a moment. "Hmmm." Finally after a long silence he says "Alright fine. I'll call in that favor." Pan disappeared behind the wall to return moments later with a tall, heavily robed man. "These two and the boys father. The older one will stay with me."
"Who is this?" questioned Davros.
"A friend and boss of mine. Now quite boy."
In a moment the robed figure raised his hands to reveal a blinding light that seemed to split and divide and dissolve all at once. Raising the light he and Davros' mother and little brother were whisked away in a wind of light and sound - leaving Davros alone with Pan as his former friends and community burned his home to the ground.
Apprenticeship to Pan
Davros found himself spending much time with Pan after the fateful night that saw his family taken from him by his community and partially by what he believed to be his friend, Pan. Pan would teach Davros much after this time, and upon returning to the outside world beyond the mouth of the snake mound, Davros had found that 4 years had passed. Finding his hometown much changed, he procured provisions from the local general store that had managed to somehow stay open and in the same hands, before heading west towards Verbobonc. Along the trail Davros would join up with traveling elven merchants coming from Cormanthyr far to the east. These sellers of elven alcohol found themselves delighted every night as they drank and listened to the music of the minstrel they had picked up. By the time Davros reached Verbobonc, the elves and half-elves had grown close over music and wine and food. These would be the first elves to return to the Empire and spread word of the musical prodigy Davros. Davros would spend some time in Verbobonc, playing at Packar's Tavern at night and watching the guards and knights train during the day. Before he left he made sure to see the replica of the Fides that was on display for the public to boost moral of the navy and bring attention to their constant battles. A week after arriving in Verbobonc, Davros would head south along the high-road with another caravan towards Hommlet, a small and prosperous settlement.Hommlet and the First Change
Davros had grown up his entire life with stories of the various monsters that kidnap children in the night, and no more so feared his family than the ghouls of the forest. These creatures were said to steal babies from families and replace them with changelings who upon reaching adulthood would undergo a change of sorts that revealed their true ghoulish nature, resulting in the devouring of the family by the ghoul-spawn. So when the night before arriving into the small community of Hommlet, Davros noticed his skin beginning to flake and show a gray ashy underskin - his mind began to race. Fearful of his life if anyone found out, he wrapped himself in silk and fabrics, and left the caravan as they slept, arriving into Hommlet in the early hours of the morning. Finding the Inn of the Welcome Wench, Davros would attempt to secure a room from Ostler Gundigoot, builder, owner, waiter, and innkeep, only to have his fabric loosen during the transaction revealing his condition. Believing the man in front of him to be sick, Ostler referenced the newcomer Davros to the local alchemist, @Spugni. Hopeful for a potential cure or diagnosis of some strange skin disease, Davros instantly set for the home of the alchemist. Spugnoir would prove to be more than understanding once he saw the condition of Davros in the private security of his home. Recognizing something of supernatular-evolution rather than disease or affliction, Spugnoir brought Davros to the keep, and to Burne, the Wizard. Burne, a more superstitious man than Spugnoir, was offended that he thought it anything other than ghoulification, and demanded the child Davros be lashed to the pyre and burned for the entire town to see. It was only with the calming influence of his friend Rufus Brunel and the council of that friend's wife, the Duchess of Daggerford that Davros was not thrown into the dungeon by Burne and his Badgers. Spending two days locked in the keep with the lords and lady of Hommlet, the Duchess would grow close to Davros and picking up on his hidden sorrows, Davros would find conform in her and their talks. This would lead to the Duchess contacting her own adopted mother. It was this decision that would change Davros forever. As he shed his first skin he was teleported to Carcino, curtsey of Burne, to the manor house of Hierophant where Davros would meet his new family and mother. The Hierophants
Davros quickly found himself adapting to the high class lifestyle of his new mother and brothers and sisters. As it turned out, the matron of the family had taken a shine to adopting the misfortunate and misunderstood of society, and she shared in Spugnoir's belief that Davros was not a ghoul - but instead a creature she had seen many years before go crazy in the senate chambers behind closed doors. Basilinna would go on to recognize Davros' musical gift and sent him to college for four years. At the age of 19, Davros would graduate head of his musical class.Ghoul or Something Else?
During his first few weeks with Basilinna she would have him read many books on various creatures with gray skin - with none sounding like himself. Upon confronting her with this burning question, she revealed her hunch that he was a product of forced supernatural-evolution, a new race of creature known as a Changeling. Basillina told Davros that information on the race was scarce, but rumors had it that they where products of an enemy nation sent to spy on, and infiltrate the human-centric Dalelands.Career in Music
Upon graduating Davros would find himself working for his family, serving on diplomatic dinners and gatherings as entertainer and conversationalist. The years spent with Pan, and later with Basilinna would do wonders to mold him into someone who was able to maneuver political talks and ballroom dances with the same grace and style that his stage performances held. These events would send Davros to many of the other great houses of Carcino, as well as to many of the mansions and villas of the elite, and even to foreign lands on trade delegations. During one of these trade delegations, Davros would find himself traveling to the flying city of Greater Hrafn, positioned over the continent of Veluntia and owned and constructed by the Third Admer Empire. Arriving by a ventoship, Davros found himself staying with a human-draconic family who they themselves where preparing for trade delegations of their own. Offering his help, Davros found himself the bard of a wedding to be held between a reluctant bride and an uninterested power hungry groom. The day before the wedding Davros would find the bride trying to flee with the help of strangers wearing garb from Carcino's Royal Navy. Instantly, Davros jumped to help the blushing bride, and as the 5 ran towards his ventoship and its captain and crew, the ground began to shake violently. The cities magical batteries spurred to life, and propelled the city violently, they five found themsleves hurtling towards somewhere fast. The speed caused destruction of buildings and towers as they crumbled under fierce winds, as well as causing the ventoships to crash into the speeding projectile that was the city of Greater Hrafn. The Town of Hochoch
As quickly as the city had whirred to life, the city of Greater Hrafn had gone silent. For a brief moment all that could be heard was the settling of dust and debris. To the surprise of Davros and the others, the city had seemed to have fallen out of the sky, and landed in an unknown mountain range. Moving for days, the group eventually stumbled upon a road and then a few days later, the town of Hochoch. While here Davros would quickly return to normalcy, finding a local establishment to play at for his keep. The others however where not so willing to stop and relax, quickly taking a job in a nearby town calling for adventures from outside. It was this event that would start the spiral that would see Davros brining peace and song and hope to many lands in the Plains of Ash.Gender Identity
While being able to change gender at will, Davros' first appearance was that of the male sex, and as so, he feels much more at home taking appearance and faces of the male gender.
Sexuality
Traveling minstrel and storyteller, Davros is open to any and all relationships. He is even known to have taken part in massive group fertility celebrations when visitng the Wegwiur, having been quoted as saying "When in Carcino, do as the carcinians do..."
