Kingdom of Months

The Isle of Months is the whole territory of the Kingdom, which is ruled by the Lanus branch of the Divine Family. It once fell under the influence of the Kingdom of Reason through the Truth Family, but since Podron Lanus' birth that is completely independent as a nation.

Structure

The government of the Isle of Months is set in the Palace of the Zodiac, as well as the main Courthouse, the Hall of Truth.

Traditionally, however, the rule used to be based in the Mansion, where lived the legendary King Podron Lanus. Today, the Mansion is the Headquarters of the Moon Knights.

Three of the dukedoms find their legitimacy in the Death Pioneers, created by King Podron Lanus in the 1000s. The fourth and oldest was established by King Podron Lanus with the special mission of keeping the secrets of the Isle of Months, and is above Podron Lanus's descendants. Dukedom of Aries lead by the Secret Keepers family; Dukedom of Capricorn lead by the Jacaranda family; Dukedom of Libra lead by the Justice family; Dukedom of Scorpio lead by the Passage family.

Culture

Monthians were the first to abolish nobility based in magic purity in the archipelago. They are the defenders of equality between the people. They treat each other informally, and formality is only saved for the Royal Family, divine descendants of the God of Death.

The atmosphere in Months is a welcoming one, where social standards are thus often disregarded in favor of conviviality. They are famous for being very warm and laid back on their interactions. Monthians love to dance and play music, but are generically hardworking.

Monthian culture is also sexualy opened. It is very common to have multiple partners throughout life and marriage is rarely a vow Monthian take. Families tend to have many children, and parents usually become so very young, as soon as they reach adulthood.

"It was evident that Months was all-in for natality: short and light clothes mandatory for all, free kindergartens and schools, tempting family work hours even for knights and cadets. Mom said that on the other islands, pregnancy among teenagers was socially disapproved of and that it was common only to give birth to children after marriage, which almost always happened after age thirty-five. Such a view of the family was strange to us, Monthians, who often had children before marriage (considered a mere formality that was becoming rare) and with more than one partner as early as fifteen."

Demography and Population

The Isle of Months is organized in twelve regions, named after the 12 zodiac calendar months, which is a different calendar system from the rest of the archipelago. The twelve regions are ruled by counts or dukes, positions that are secret to rest of the land.
The sorcerers prefer to live in the North of the island, and the elves in the South. Mantagamias are found a bit everywhere, though mostly on big cities. Witches tend to gather in the Scorpio region.

Habitants

The Monthians mainly belong to these four species:
"Besides my obvious physical differences (I was fair-skinned and blond while Monthians were tann-skinned with dark hair), the clothes were by far the most flagrant disparity. I wore a set of flexible and resistant clothes, magically fitted, in shades of green and dark blue, together with a pair of leather boots. Opposite to me, the Monthians were all barefoot and they all dressed alike: young women wore tight shorts and older women wore wide skirts above the knee, both with a light string blouse; men wore sleeveless shirts and large, knee-long trunks. Both men and women had three thin stripes around the ankles, in three different colors. The only thing telling them apart were the colors of the clothing and stripes, some blue, some green, some brown, some gray… Daya thought of standardization as she regarded the citizens."
