Residuum

Residuum is an extremely rare material, created from the interaction of divine energies and the Material Plane. There are some veins in various locations across Azimuth.   Residuum is normally created in incredibly small quantities, but can be created in larger amounts by a sufficiently large divine or deific interaction.

Description

Raw residuum is green and crystalline. The crystals can be broken down, and is most often handled and transported at a gravel or powder consistency. Residuum can be used as a replacement for material components in spellcraft.

Refined Residuum

Raw residuum can be purified through a process similar to forging, where it is worked into a glass-like substance called Refined Residuum. Items crafted from Refined Residuum are easier to enchant with stronger magics.

Sources

Research conducted by Maalik in 5A 351 listed several rumored sources of residuum. These places included Doravelzog, Mine of Spider's Bane, and Psaro the Manslayer's actions in Parthenia.   When Arwin first revealed his residuum masterwork arrows, he said, "From where I am from, these crystals are in abundance. So much so that it is kept secret."

History

The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings
As some point after 2 Avedar 5A 351 and before 24 Felim 5A 352, the Eight-Pronged Residuum Ring was crafted in Santeem.   Before 9 Madaet 5A 352, Arwin was gifted several residuum arrows.   On 14 Adroth 5A 352, Mortimr Gwathagoldrin used one of Arwin's residuum arrows as material to resurrect Captain Levka Ruslan.
