Praetorium - Castle of Echoes
Despite the new living arrangements, the Praetorium as a location predates most modern civilization, having originally been constructed off the western shores of Hestroa as a gift for Sardior, the draconic deity of gem dragons, before his death during Shuriig's initial invasion of Chromatia. It acts as a landmark and fortress protecting the Chamber of Echoes buried deep beneath the world's crust.
With the original owner, Gaulnym Thryn'tostynn, removed and put to rest, Iovaerix has overtaken lordship of the region, expelling the cursed influence of Gaulnym's lingering hatred towards dragonkind for their failure to protect Sardior from death and constructing a glorious fortress over top of the recently re-discovered Chamber of Echoes. The castle itself is woven from various jewels, natural elements, and life, giving it a very organic appearance when compared to a traditional palace (though no less extravagent). Each primordial element and type of dragon can find representation throughout the castle's infrastructure (though Iovaerix's receiving chamber is decorated with considerably more ruby than it is anything else). Various methods are used to ensure the castle maintains a reliable supply of necessities even when trade is diminished or unavailable for one reason or another.
Within the walls are living arrangements to sustain a small township of approximately 2,000 citizens, including Iovaerix's personal hired staff. Some 3 - 4,000 people have taken advantage of the remaining land outside the palace as a place of residence, fully establishing the Praetorium's status as a township.
Deep in the castle, Iovaerix has installed his own personal study. A space has been provided for Corridors to and from the Breach, permitting Iovaerix to freely work on various research projects and spellcraft between Chromatia and the Hall of Concordance.
