Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Aurra has always maintained her health with exercise and the occasional sparring match throughout her life. In the past few months however she has started exercising more fervently... you could, in fact, argue she does so obsessively. She has started to show the physical signs of this, muscle beginning to show upon her toned arms, her shoulders becoming a bit broader, and her stomach is now showing her abs. She is still thin, but she looks far stronger than she did at the beginning of her adventures.

Body Features

Aurra has silvery white, shimmering, shoulder length hair, medium tan skin, emerald green eyes, and emerald green markings running along her face and body.

Identifying Characteristics

Like all Daoine, Aurra has naturally bio-luminescent markings running along her body that glow constantly and glow brighter when she uses magic or she is under starlight. Aurra's markings are emerald green and along with the typical markings that all Daoine have, Aurra has a set of far more extensive markings than most Daoine due to her extensive practice with and use of magic. Her more extensive markings start from a line on her forehead and proceed downwards until it reaches just above her eyes before splitting in two and gently curving around them. From there, they split off and run in two straight lines from the bottom of her eyes, onto her cheeks, and begin to spiral around her neck until they form a single line above the front of her neck near her vocal cords. They then proceed to run in a straight line downwards onto the center of her chest after which they split off into three lines. One set of lines spreads out across her chest and begins to spiral elegantly around her shoulders and arms before eventually splitting off on the back of each hand and spreading to the tip of the back of each of her fingers. They also split off at the bottom of her wrist and spread onto her palm, meeting the ones from the top of her hand at the tips of her fingers. The other line proceeds to run down her body, spiraling around her torso and continuing to spiral until it reach her stomach, at which it splits into two spiraling lines and run down her legs to her ankles, after which they run in a straight line before splitting off and running to the tips of each toe. Aurra's eyes are the same striking emerald green color as her markings and are also naturally bio-luminescent and are constantly glowing lightly. Along with her markings, they glow brighter while under starlight or during magic use.

Special abilities

Aurra is trained in the magical arts of psionics, healing, gravity manipulation, weapon summoning, and temporal manipulation along with gaining the power of emotional manipulation from serving as a host to Rikkomus. Additionally, she is trained in martial combat with a scimitar and to some extent the spear.   Aurra is a natural telepath and empath and is quite gifted in the realm of Psionics allowing her to create a mindscape to do battle with her foe that is totally under her control. Within this mindscape, she can manipulate any aspect of what she and any beings within see and feel at any time. She has shown an aptitude for manipulating the receptors of the brain to increase the potency of the illusion they are seeing and will often times create environments inspired by the various traumas she has undergone or environments from the other person's nightmares in an attempt to force her foe to submit without having to resort to physical violence. She can also utilize her natural psionic abilities for nonvocal communication, though this does cause her eyes and markings to glow slightly as it is a form of magic. She has also been shown to be able to use her psionic abilities in combination with her healing magic to repair damage that has been done to other people's minds, even going so far as to bring someone back from insanity and unlocking memories they had suppressed, though this does require a long period of time and is quite exhausting for her as the process is complicated and allows both her and the patient to glimpse the memory. Due to her empathic talents, she is capable of sensing the emotions of those around her, though when interacting with non-empaths she tries to respect their privacy and ignore it if she can.   Though Aurra's primary Healing focus is on the mind, that does not mean she doesn't know how to heal other types of wounds. With the combination of healing magic and her mundane knowledge of the body, Aurra is able to nurse even mortal wounds back to health in mere moments and has been shown to even be able to stall the spread of poison through the body of a patient, though it does take its toll on her after a time.   With Gravity Manipulation, Aurra can change how gravity affects herself, her allies, her enemies, or even just the environment around her. She can tie the spell to a specific person or object or even create an AOE spell. She has been known to draw items closer together, using them to create shields or weapons out of the detritus and debris around her in extreme circumstances. Other uses include slowing her or her allies decent in the event of a fall, deflecting projectiles, or even simply pulling dropped items back to her and manipulating items in the air.   Aurra has the ability to summon magic weapons to aide her in combat. She has two weapons that she will typically summon: Mercy's Light, and Mercy's Grace  
  • Mercy's Light is a glowing emerald green scimitar with white smoke drifting elegantly off of the green flame on the blade. Mercy's Light is Aurra's weapon of choice.
  • Mercy's Grace is an elegant spear, growing from the center out to each end. Mercy's Grace glows with an emerald green flame on the tip and white smoke drifts from the shaft.
  Temporal Manipulation is probably the ability Aurra has the most difficulty with. It requires intense concentration for Aurra to even slow time by a fractional amount, much less stop it completely, and often results in Aurra passing out from exhaustion shortly afterwards. Nevertheless, she has used this ability on three occasions, the first time was to buy herself enough time to gravitationally deflect a ball of magma that was about to crash into the ship she and her friends were on, the second was during her battle with Rikkomus' demon form, when she used it to speed movement up to imperceptible levels to get behind him, and the third was during the defense of Shipwreck Sanctuary from a large group of Tricerators and Raptors, she sped her own time up in order to be able to move amongst the battle and help the wounded without being hit and to reach them quickly enough. This ability remains mostly unexplored so it's limits are unknown to her, however she has shown an increased level of control over it in recent times.   Emotional Manipulation is the newest power in Aurra's arsenal. She knows little of this power other than the fact that she can now make people feel whatever emotion she wants. It's currently a little bit like using a hammer to kill a gnat though and that emotion can be rather overwealming

Apparel & Accessories

Aurra typically prefers fairly simple dresses in a style similar to that of the ancient Egyptians. Some of her favorites include a simple white dress with a purple stripe near the left shoulder, and a more elegant dark blue dress that she typically reserves for diplomatic functions. Occasionally, she can be seen to wear a silver chain with a small star shaped pendant attached, though that's typically only worn with the blue dress. She typically wears a set of red sandals in the style of the traditional Japanese Geta with both dresses. She also wears a simple, crudely dyed, purple ribbon upon her left wrist which was a gift from Alastor Graves

Specialized Equipment

Along with her dresses and sandals, both of which she prefers to wear on a day to day basis, Aurra also carries a leather breastplate, leather trousers, and a sturdy pair of boots for protection. Often times you can see her mixing and matching these outfits when it is warranted so she will sometimes wear the trousers underneath her dress, or wear the boots instead of the sandals.   Unfortunately, during the shipwreck that left her and several others stranded on Janshima Island, Aurra lost all of her equipment with the exception of her Sending Stone. While on the island she has acquired a new set of clothing, a simple shirt and trousers gifted to her by the other survivors at Shipwreck Sanctuary and her parent's journal, gifted to her by Kardan . She has also now acquired several items upon Janshima Island

Personal history

Aurra Maudelyn was born on Celetus 13th, 930BD to Councilman Airdan Jolynn Maudelyn, her father and Priestess Renna Shalee Ianarie Maudelyn, her mother whom she remembers little about. She has few memories of her early life, especially after the recent damage to her mind. One memory she does hold however, is of the fire that claimed their lives. She remembers smelling the oppressive smoke in her sleep and opening her eyes with a start. She remembers seeing the fire at the doorway of her bedroom and the sheer panic as she looked for a way out before eventually pushing herself out of her bedroom window and rolling hard onto the sandstone below. She remembers crying out telepathically for her parents as she watched the wooden accents of their home crumble and burn before the roof, supported entirely by wood, collapsed inside as she stood, completely helpless to stop it.   The time directly before and after that event is lost to her, either suppressed by her or lost during her psionic battle with Ryence, she has however been able to tease bits and pieces of that time out of her mind over time and has recently been gifted her parent's journal by Kardan, speaking to their spirits in a dreamscape crafted by the child god to comfort her in a period of distress on Janshima Island .   Some time after the deaths of her parents, Aurra was taken in by a kindly Priest who brought her to The Temple and began her training.   At the age of 21, Aurra began her duties as a teacher in earnest, teaching children the basics of religion, language, mathematics, history, and the sciences for twenty years before moving on to apprentice for and eventually teaching the Arcane and Psionic arts.   Forty years later, Aurra changed her focus again, apprenticing as and becoming a remarkably powerful generalized Healer and, utilizing the skills she had learned as a teacher of both Psionics and the Arcane, also became one of the few Psionic Healers/Empathic Therapists in Ra Minol.   Roughly ten years after taking on the role of a healer, she temporarily stepped back into a teaching role at the request of The High Priest. During this time, she tutored both Anaga Astrelian and Caelum Astrelian from a young age in basic language, mathematics, and in Caelum's case, magic until they both suddenly dropped off the map without explanation. After the disappearance of the Astrellian family, which was officially ruled a suicide, Aurra returned to her role as a healer.   In total, Aurra served in a Healer's capacity for fifty years before hearing about the war coming to Ancora. Unable to standby and let innocent civilians and soldiers die without acting, Aurra petitioned her superiors to allow her to go in the capacity of a field medic and, though there were concerns over her youth, her request was eventually granted.

Education

Aurra was trained from an early age in The Temple in Ra Minol. She studied magic with a heavy focus on the arts of healing, psionics, Light Manipulation, and gravity manipulation. She, like other Priestess', has also been trained in etiquette, religion, and diplomacy as well as having studied Temporal Manipulation and various myths and legends from around Drimore on her own.

Accomplishments & Achievements

While in Reul port, Aurra had a demon by the name of Ryence swap her body with that of Alinaese and then proceed to seize control of that body. Following that, it swapped her back into her own body and attempted to fight and flee. Aurra managed to fight her way back to the fore and seize control of her body to some extent, slowing the thing down and eventually forcing it into a psionic battle within her mind. She attempted several times to fight it, eventually even drawing Kiernan Greyforge Raynion into the battle as he was the closest individual and she needed assistance. After some time, Aurra eventually came up with the idea to use her healing magic on it. This healing magic split the corrupted part from Ryence and revived his former personality, the Cupid Rikkomus. To save Aurra's life, Priestess Sharna allowed the corrupted spirit to take her as a host whilst Aurra continued to be the host for Rikkomus for a time until they found Alastor Graves in Ra Minol. Upon his arrival and subsequent detention in Ra Minol, Aurra managed to repair Alastor's mind, bringing him back from insanity and returning Rikkomus to him. She has continued repairs on Alastor's mind since and the three of them have actually become fairly good friends.   When the village of Shipwreck Sanctuary on Janshima Island was assaulted by a group of Tricerators and Raptors Aurra joined Serran Newar, Hokee, and Alastor Graves in assisting the defense. Near the end of the battle, Serran was knocked out of the sky by a Tricerator who threw a raptor at him. Upon impact, Serran's wings were broken in several places and his spine was fractured, leaving him paralyzed. Aurra moved quickly, getting to Serran's position moments after he fell, and quickly began resetting bones and repairing fractures with her healing magic. By the end of the battle, Serran was still alive and was able to move, albeit with extreme pain. Serran was taken to a medical tent and Aurra had Chast Temnaya put him to sleep at Chast's suggestion while Hokee went to gather the ingredients and craft a paste for pain. The next day, Aurra returned and took him to the Inn, as he was capable of moving to some extent, where she proceeded to finish repairs upon his back and wings, restoring full function to his body after an injury that should have either killed or paralyzed him.   Aurra faced down Fovos/Enisgape, The God of Fear, on Janshima Island along with Serran Nuwar, Alastor, Waru Abe, Silvester, Grigori, Hokee, and Rikkomus. Fovos dug into her own personal fears and tore her to shreds emotionally, however she and the others held out for a fair amount of time before she prayed to Lady Aldriel and Lady Aldriel, Tsubri, and Felix responded to her prayer and saved their lives, defeating Fovos.   Shortly after leaving Ra Minol's port for Sorapoli, the ship that Aurra, Serran Nuwar, Hokee, Chast Temnaya, Zeric Aldus Trimun, Waru Abe, Silvester Furmilo, and Alastor Graves were on was assaulted by what can only be described as a storm monster. Lightning struck the deck dead center and sent everyone on deck flying into the water, including Aurra who had never learned to swim. She was knocked under the ocean several times, the first time taking in several breaths of water before being able to surface, and is alive only thanks to Alastor's timely intervention and the will of the Gods, Henry specifically. This event was extremely traumatic for Aurra and gave her a phobia of storms and water.
However, due to a combination of Silvester Furmilo's insistence that she remember to take time for herself and rest back in Sanctuary, Kardan's perpetual assistance in her dreams and reminders that she must learn to have fun again, Serran Nuwar's reminder that in order to grow she must let her past guide her, but not control her, and that she must allow herself to express how she is truly feeling, and most of all Hokee's bubbly personality and willingness to help make her happier on her birthday after an extremely difficult day, even despite his own fears. Aurra has been able to conquer her fears and learn to swim, allowing her to enjoy a calm, playful time in the water and even see what it was like to simply float under the water, which was something of a lifelong dream of hers that she had never had time nor need to accomplish before now. Hokee also made sure that Priestess Maudelyn knew that the people around her genuinely enjoyed it during the few moments when she took time to have fun, something that, though Aurra does have empathic and telepathic abilities, she never really took notice of with so many other issues constantly plaguing her mind. The combination of these acts has gone a long way towards helping Aurra recover, even if it took quite some time for them to culminate. It is yet to be seen how these revelations will affect Aurra going forwards, but it is certain that it will change some of her view of herself and her duties.

Failures & Embarrassments

While looking for a lost Beolore in Reul after promising to protect him, Serran Nuwar was consistently mocking both her and Beolore. Frustrated by this, and perhaps forgetting her own telepathic strength, Aurra snapped and invaded Serran's mind. While originally intending only to frighten him and make him more empathetic to Beolore's position, she went very much too far. She made him feel the pain of a dozen infected wounds and feel as if he were burning in a dark, damp alley. This shattered his mind and only the intervention of Hokee while on the ship allowed Serran to recover. Aurra still feels intensely guilty for this and believes she owes Serran a far larger debt than she can ever repay, even after saving his life on Janshima Island.

Mental Trauma

Aurra is not especially used to combat and The Battle of Ancora took an especially great toll on her. She saw and felt a great many people die that day on both sides of the fight, several of them were her friends who died at her feet as she failed to save them. This has made her determined to never bury another friend, to the point where she would willingly risk her own life without a thought to save them.   Due to damage caused by Rikkomus when he was in his demon form, Aurra's mind became a patchwork of damaged memories. She has since managed to mostly patch her mind back together and recover, though she still has difficulty remembering things from her distant past. Exposure to corrupted spirits and the sort of torture she endured still makes her very uncomfortable however and it does take a little work for her to stay calm in the face of such events, though recent events and adventures have made it far easier for her to endure.   Due to her work with both Rikkomus and Alastor's mind and the sheer amount of trauma she has undergone in an incredibly short amount of time, Aurra has begun to have utterly terrifying nightmares almost nightly. She has learned to endure them and reshape them to an extent under Kardan 's guidance but they are still distressing for her and she sometimes has difficulty sleeping.

Intellectual Characteristics

Aurra is of slightly above average intelligence and as such can be quite clever when she needs to be. Additionally, as a teacher she has an advanced vocabulary in both Daoine and Common. She also has an advanced understanding of the different magics that she has studied, and a fairly solid grasp on the mathematics and science she has helped teach. She enjoys reading in her spare time, often times picking up books from the various locations she visits around Drimore as she likes to learn the myths and legends of the people she visits. She has also recently been taught to play Elven Chess by Kiernan Greyforge Raynion and enjoys the intellectual challenge that it presents.

Morality & Philosophy

Aurra is a Priestess of Aldriel and as such is a fairly peaceful person by nature. She believes in forgiveness and strives to help those in need whenever possible. However, that does not mean she will not fight. If she believes the cause is just, she will take up arms to protect her friends and the innocent, in that order.

Aurra is a Priestess devoted specifically to Aldriel, though she has respect for all of the Gods and Goddesses of The Good Pantheon. In times of distress you can often find her praying for Aldriel's guidance and wisdom. Aldriel has deemed her worthy of her physical presence several times, making Aurra even further devoted each time and has even come to her defense against Fovos/Enisgape on Janshima Island.

History

Aurra and Serran initially started on shaky ground, as Serran was an instigator and often went out of his way to agitate Aurra and others with his mocking sense of humor and rougher past. However, after being assaulted in his mind by Aurra, Serran began to back down and stop teasing her as much. This gave both parties time to heal and reflect, and when they both got marooned on the dangerous Janshima Island, the trials they faced slowly pushed them closer together as they were able to help each other out in the emotional struggles they regularly faced from their past and present. When Serran had to let go of a significant item from his past to sacrifice to the wind, Serran began opening up to Aurra in a deeper way, which motivated her to start to do the same thing, and this started to get Serran to look at her from a different light. They now presently share each other's thoughts on occasion through telepathy.   When the curse was broken off of Janshima Isle, and while the two of them were on a boat heading back to the mainland, it was here that Aurra professed her love of Serran, and after a moment of working through some misconceptions, Serran did the same with her. Now the two of them have begun dating. Where will this go? Only time will tell.
