Caves of Moringua
In the heart of the Caluan Desert lies the Caves of Moringua, a serpentine cave network carved into the ground, where the walls are formed from the fossilized remains of an ancient, titanic eel.
This cave system has striations that match the pattern of the an eel but incredibly large. This cave system is a respite for those travelling in the hot desert but in the millennia since the ancient sea beast, known as Moringua, created this system.
Once a formidable sea creature that prowled the ancient oceans of the world, Moringua was stranded as the waters receded, leaving him to die in the centre of what would become the Siroccan jungle and eventually the parched sands of Calua. Over millennia, his bones and scales hardened into rock, forming the vast cave system that now bears his name. The caves hum with the residual magic of the creature, with Kinalite stones growing from the fossilized remains, emitting an electric charge that makes the air tingle.
Over the years, magic related creatures made this place their home. Djinn of the desert created a small realm near the end of the caves. Magic eating scarabs also swarm around the entrance. Kinalite has also formed over thousands of years in these caves. The scales of Moringua were electrified so that is why the locals believe this cave has strange effects on lightning and metal.
